Doing a back-to back questions

We're platinum, so I feel like I should know the answers to these questions, but we've never done a back-to back before.

We're considering a 4 night/3 night combo. We currently hold a placeholder from our last cruise. I'm assuming DCL considers these 2 totally separate cruises, but I'll ask questions anyways.

--Will the placeholder only give us a 10% discount on one of the cruises (obviously we'd use it on the longer one then?) And we will only get $100 OBC instead of $200, as we are doing 7 nights but divided between two cruises?

--As a platinum member, will we get 2 Palo meals? And we can do a dinner and a brunch, one each cruise? And a choice of platinum gift for each cruise?

--Will we be able to each get the 50 MB of free internet for each cruise segment?

I've always wanted to do a BTB. I'm most looking forwards to going to Castaway Cay twice! Thanks for your responses!

Wow! Great questions! I have done cruises as long as 14 nights w/DCL, but never a back to back, and like you, I am also Platinum. :flower: Sorry I don't know for sure any of the answers to your questions but I will be watching this thread to see what's what! :cutie:

They are 2 separate cruises so placeholder only counts for 1 cruise. Same thing happened with us, we had 1 placeholder for b2b, but could only get benefits on the more expensive cruise.

You will get 2 Palo meals because they are separate cruises. You will have to book them separately. Each is for "1 complimentary Palo experience" so you can do 2 dinners, 2 brunches or 1 of each. Of course, subject to availability. I don't think 3 day cruises have a sea day, so there might not be a brunch.

You should get 50 on each cruise, as they are separate. But I've never used this so I'm not 100% sure.

Enjoy the b2b. We did it once and it was really nice.

You will get placeholder benefits of 10% off whichever you use as well as 100.00 OBC for that cruise. So first leg you use placeholder you get the 10% off and 100.00 OBC. If you had another placeholder for the second leg, you would get 10% and 100.00 OBC for that one as well. Two different reservation numbers so all applicable benefits apply.

Yes, 2 Platinum meals...one for 4 night and one for 3 night for all eligible people in the cabin.

Yes, 50 free MB per leg.

We love the B2B cruises as we get 2 stops at CC, 2 brunches, we dont have to be picky about meals as we can try an item we want on the next cruise, if we miss a movie or show.........we can catch it on the next cruise, 2 firework shows, etc.

we feel very relaxed on both cruises while everyone else is running around and short on time.

We always get the same room for both cruises so we dont have to repack and move rooms for cruise #2.

Good luck and have fun.

We did a BTB 4/3 night on the Wonder and loved it. We saw the shows during the 4 night and did other things on the 3 night.
Had the same stateroom. So nice to be able to relax and not have to pack up everything!

Your head server will ask if you want the same table/serving team for the second cruise. We did as they were wonderful but you can change tables/serving teams if you want.

Bon Voyage!

Here is the disembarkation and embarkation process for a Port Canaveral B2B if you were wondering how it works.

Thanks for the letter.
We're doing this cruise purely for relaxation, and will have two sea days and two castaway cay days. We've been to St. Thomas so many times, I can't see doing much there. On the changeover day, it seems like we should be able to just hang out by the pool, without anyone else around.

I'm a runner and love running on deck 4. Think there's any chance I will be able to do that between cruises?

When do they put the letter out? We're on B2B in March but the kids don't know we're on a B2B (can't wait, 9 nights on board!). I don't want them to see the letter and spoil the surprise. We're going to tell them as we're getting off the first cruise.

Ours was left on the bed. On your first day onboard, be sure to tell your Host, Servers and Head Server you plan to keep the second cruise a secret because they all know you're doing a B2B. We also surprised our kids like you plan to do and the servers almost ruined it for us. Luckily our kids weren't paying attention when they mentioned it.

We've done B2B cruises 3 times (Cali Coast/Alaska, Eastern/Western and Baltic/Norway). Love it! It's so nice to have the extra time. That being said, on the changeover day, we've never been able to sit around the pool or use the deck or other facilities, as they are prepping those areas for the new cruise. It might be different for you, of course, since only one of our B2B's was actually going through Port Canaveral, but we would get off, check back in and then get right back on pretty quickly after we re-checked in. For Cali/Alaska, they had the Promenade Lounge opened b/c there were a lot of B2B people, so we hung out there until the restaurants opened. For Eastern/Western, we were told we could get back on and go stay in our room (since it was the same room) or go to the adult coffee bar, but by the time we'd done the check in, it was right at 11, so we just got back on and went to lunch. In Europe, we had to wait to board until the first group. Each time, we had a letter in our stateroom explaining things. Also, like someone else mentioned, our head waiter and servers asked us about our upcoming cruise, mainly to see if we wanted the same dining team/time.

What an amazing surprise! You must get pix/video of your kids when they find out they are only leaving the ship to get BACK ON THE SHIP!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

The crew is often working and/or drilling (as in their own safety drills) on Deck 4 on Embarkation/Debarkation Day, so I would not plan on that at all.

In Miami deck 4 is used for boarding so it is closed but there was only 9 B2Bers so they escorted us off, past the back side of customs, into check in and then sent us to the escalator where we were allowed back on in about 10 minutes. At Canaveral there were a lot of us so they just gave us instructions and we waited to board in concierge lounge area, we boarded about 20 minutes ahead of new cruisers, deck 4 was closed. Will know in a couple weeks how it is done in Dover.
