Doin it in Style @ The Poly! September 2010 Here we Come!!!

Hi All

Hope your weekends are going well.

Mine is almost over, but its been a good one. I went to Hampton Court Palace yesterday with my Dad which was alot of fun. I miss just us two doing things together. I remember when I was little he would always take me places like the cinema and other places.

Not sure if you guys are familiar with Hampton Court Palace, but its one of our Historic Landmarks built in the Tudor era. Its very beautiful and the ground are huge and amazing. Thought I would post a few pics for you guys to see :goodvibes

We decided to try out the maze thinking "We can't get lost" and what did we do? We go lost

Was fun though, my dad kept leading us down dead ends which was funny as he is usually quite good when it comes to navigating.

What a wonderful update of your weekend!

I LOVE Hampton Court Palace - it is just SOOOOOOOOO beautiful! I have friends who live in Kingston and we often visited the Palace! Especially in the summer and we ALWAYS got lost in the maze! :rotfl2:

Thanks for bringing back so many wonderful memories!

The paintings and architecture in this place were amazing.

This is a Rubens and is huge!

This Tapestry is over 500yrs old and is kept in darkness most of the time, except from time to time when they illuminate it to tell its story. Is pretty amazing when you see it.

and thus that concludes our tour, hope you enjoyed your stay and please come again :goodvibes

I love going to historic places, have always been fascinated by history. Hoping to go to The Tower of London soon.

Anywho, on with the recap, now where did I leave off last :scratchin

Memories ........ oh, all those memories! :lmao:

Thanks for reminding me that instead of going to Paris we could hop over to London instead! ;)

By the way, I love the Tower of London and all its different little wall walks and "hidden" rooms! One of my favourite sights whenever I get to London, and never get tired of it!

Oh yes please! I cannot wait for the next update on your second trip and a few extras from DLRP would be nice as well! :goodvibes
We have decided NOT to do our annual Halloween trip to DLRP this year! :scared1: Our APs have expired and I would rather do another February trip ;) to WDW again.

Stay tuned, I will be updating soon with DLP pics :)

It's a shame that you guys aren't going to DLP, but I don't blame you for choosing WDW over it. I wish we could go again soon and see all the new updates etc but its just so expensive just to go for a weekend :sad2:

You're Welcome :goodvibes Its a beautiful place isn't it and it must be even more so in the Summer.

My dad said the maze used to be alot tougher than it is now, but they had to shorten it etc because people were getting really lost, sometimes for hours

Why not come visit for the weekend when the weather gets better :goodvibes

I haven't been to the Tower since I was in Primary School and back then it was more about being out of school than learning stuff. Didn't even get to see the Crown Jewels.

It's exactly for that reason, being too expensive that we decided against it. We would have free flights - I am collecting air miles - but then we would need new APs, we usually rent a small house offsite and then a car and then all the spending money, :rotfl2:

My dad said the maze used to be alot tougher than it is now, but they had to shorten it etc because people were getting really lost, sometimes for hours :eek

I remember one time when I went with my friend and her boys were still small and very lively and we were lost and then lost one of the boys :scared1: We were REALLY scared!! Luckily Jonathan found US!

You are going to love the Tower! Check out all the wall walks - there is an entry near the Salt Tower! Bloody Tower is a must and Traitor's Gate - want me to go on? I did work as a tourguide for Austrian Students, way back when! :lmao:

:flower3:

Ahh right, we last left off at the end of our US/IoA day. I think dinner was supposed to be at The Wave but we skipped/missed alot of ADR's that trip, so I think we must have eaten at Maya Grille. Its not a bad lil restaurant and they are v v accomodating. Didn't get any pics though, sorry.

The next day I think we just went at a relaxed pace, we ended up in DHS and caught the Block Bash Party (or whatever way round that goes). I wish Boo was in that parade as she is my fav.

The next day we spent at MK where we bumped into another couple who were also planning to get married, but didn't have the best of luck.

IMG_2809-1.jpg

We went to check out and see if we were Pirate Material

IMG_2810-1.jpg

IMG_2816-1.jpg

Turns out we weren't but we did bump into this character who insisted we take a picture with him.
IMG_2818-1.jpg

After we finally managed to get away from Hook, who did I spy but one of Dave's two fav characters and we just had to get a pic with them.
IMG_2820.jpg

After our quick snapshop we ran to get the Liberty Square Riverboat.

Not sure if this was the same day or not, but the next pics show us in DTD picking out a pearl for a colleauge back home whom I was a Secret Santa to. I wanted to take pics of picking the pearl so she could see where it came from.

The chef made a heart for us when she found out we had gotten engaged.

Could go for some of this now

Not sure where this pic is from, must have been from when we walking back through an empty WS after Teppan.

My health went down a bit after that and we ended up missing the TSM Disboard Dessert Party and stayed in our room til we had to leave. I felt so bad and Dave had been so good, so when we got home I bought him an early Christmas present, a PS3. He was v thrilled with it, so much so I can't get him off the darn thing  So that concludes our 2008 trip, will be posting our Photopass Pics soon, so stay tuned :goodvibes

I know exactly what you mean. The money you spend on a weekend, you might as well put the extra towards a week at WDW.

You were a tour guide over here? Thats v cool, I might take you up on your inside knowledge, secret passageways sound like my kind of thing :thumbsup2

Oh how fun!! IT looks beautiful there! I love doing stuff with just me and my dad too!!

Thanx, it was really fun just me and him for the day :)

Great updates! I loved the Hampton Court Palace pictures. I have a picture of myself in that very maze (though I was much younger):rolleyes1

Loved seeing your trip recap and can't wait to see your Photopass pics! Photopass is brand new to me so I'm still trying to figure out the best way to utilize it for DBF and I in September without spending lots of $$ (can't decide if the photo CD is worth it or not or to just take our own pics!).

I love your dad!! So funny! It's really nice that you can appreciate all the touristy things that are right in your own backyard! We only ever get into NYC when we go see shows on Broadway. DH goes into NYC for work every day so it's the last place he wants to go on the weekends! We always say we're going to go see the tree every Christmas but when it comes time, we complain that it'll just be filled with tourists.....oh well, maybe next year!

Hi Stefy! I haven't had much chance to catch up on the DIS lately, so it was fun to read your new updates.
I Loved reading about US and IOA. Seeing you guys enjoying a Squishee and a Duff beer was priceless! I had no idea the Simpsons area was so well themed!

The palace looks gorgeous, and the maze so fun! Ben and I love mazes- there's one built in a corn field not too far from us that we visit every fall. So much fun, but easy to get lost in!

Wow! Great updates.... the castle pictures are amazing and I love the tapestries and art work. Thanks for the tour :goodvibes and I agree, that chandelier is beautiful.

I liked the Block Party Bash, but we've only seen it once and it was a lousy viewing spot. We'll have to try and catch it again.

I haven't been on the ferry boat yet! That and Tom Sawyer Island.... what a great view from up there.

Teppan Edo... mmmmmmm. :cloud9:

Stefy, thanks for sharing your weekend with us. Hampton Court Palace looks stunning. I'd love to see something like that! It seems like you had a great time with your dad too!

Awesome Disney flashbacks as well. I love the pictures. :thumbsup2

Stefy isn't feeling well today so she is at home in bed but I am sure she will sneak her way onto the Dis shortly ;) If you like flashback pics then you will love our DLP pics. Not hundreds of them but enough to get the idea of the place. It has changed massively over the past 6+ years and we will try and get back one day but pricing it up is like pricing up a week in orlando!

I think she is going to start with our Photopass pics first and go from therepopcorn::
