We stopped to see our DVC guide for a few moments this morning to say hello before we headed out for Epcot. We enjoyed our brief visit with him, and I think he has almost convinced Larry to take a DCL cruise - I hope so, since I really want to go on one. We arrived at World Showcase late this morning, so we went straight to Chefs de France for our lunch PS. Lunch here was very good, and we enjoyed it. After lunch, we started over to the Land pavilion to ride the Soarin' attraction. On the way there, Tara stopped at the kiosk in Canada and bought two Off Kilter CD's for us as a belated anniversary present - she is such a great kid (and they are really wonderful CD's)! While she shopped, Larry and I rested on a bench and watched one of the CM's in Canada spraying unsuspecting guests from behind with one of the water mister fans - he would quickly put the mister fan behind his back and look the other way when they turned around to see who had sprayed them. He appeared to be having a great time, and when he looked up and caught us watching him, he grinned really big and so did we. When we reached the Soarin' ride, there was a 30-minute wait. We normally would not wait that long for a ride (yes, we are spoiled), but we really wanted to ride this and did not want to wait for the fastpass time, so we bit the bullet. The wait really wasn't so bad, and the ride itself was awesome! We asked if we might be allowed to have front row seats, and the CM gestured us into the line for the next room - so instead of riding in room B, row 2, we rode in room C, row 1. We will definitely be riding this again on our next trip - it is an absolutely amazing ride!
Tara wanted to do some shopping in Mouse Gears, so she and Larry went in there while I rested on a bench in the shade. Once they were done with their shopping, we headed back to SSR for a short nap, having done all we wanted to do in Epcot. We decided to have dinner at Big River Grill & Brewing Works at the Boardwalk tonight. When we checked in here, the CM's wondered why Tara and I had guest of honor badges on while Larry didn't. I explained that I bought him a badge, but he refused to wear it because he doesn't like everybody he meets to know his name. So they began to see if they could get him to tell them his name. Living up to his DIS screen name (goofylarry46), he proceeded to tell them that his name was Wadgen Montague Haynesworth Ledbetter, III. When one CM persisted by asking what name his friends and family called him, he responded with "Well, you can call me Wa." Maybe it was a you-had-to-be-there kind of moment, but Tara and I thought this was absolutely hysterical, and through our laughter I looked at the other CM's and said, "See? We have to put up with this kind of thing all the time!" They all laughed and said we were just having good, clean fun. I finally told them his name was Larry, just so they wouldn't wonder about it for the rest of the evening - and for the remainder of our trip, Tara and I would look at each other at random times and say "You can call me Wa" and then break out in giggles all over again.
Dinner here was okay, but not the best meal I have had at Disney. We will probably go back again eventually, but maybe choose different dishes next time. After dinner, we shopped a bit in the Boardwalk gift shop - then decided that since we hadn't shopped enough yet (!) we should go to DTD for more. I was curious to see what the Everything $10 and Under store was like, so we stopped there first. Most of this is merchandise that is either outdated (for instance, some of it had 2004 on it) or is surplus from other parks - still, there were some cute things there. They have grab bags for $5-6 that contained some pretty neat little things, particularly for kids (and yes, Tara bought one of those). She and Larry wanted to shop in the World of Disney store, but I didn't have any interest in this, so I sat outside and people watched while they shopped. Sitting across from me were twin girls (who looked to be about 4 or 5) with their grandparents. Apparently they were waiting for their parents and older brother to get done with their shopping. The girls were chasing each other around, and one fell and skinned her knee on the concrete. As her grandmother comforted her, her parents and brother came back and her mom gave her hugs and kisses. Then they decided to get the kids a treat from the snow cone stand that was next to where they were sitting. As dad and mom get in line, the young girl who was not injured in the fall decides to play a game with her father. She runs at him and head butts him - and she was just tall enough to head butt him in a decidedly painful place. He bends over at the waist and pushes her away, but she apparently thinks this is part of the game - so she waits until he is not paying attention and then gleefully backs up and head butts him again. He reacts in the same way, and this goes on for about five head butts before he firmly takes her by the arms, plants her beside her grandmother and tells her to stay there. She is happy with herself, so she decides to tell grandma about the great game she was playing with dad. Grandma reacts with an exaggerated shushing motion and looks around hurriedly to make sure no one else has heard this tale. I have to tell you, it was all I could do not to burst out laughing and draw attention to myself, but I managed to contain myself until they left. I love people watching at Disney - you never know what you will see! Larry and Tara came back from the World of Disney store, and as we were walking back to the bus, I shared that story with them - they thought it was pretty funny, too.
