Dogs sniffing for explosives at entrance??

Our police department gave a presentation on their dogs. They said you can't have dogs sniffing people because many dogs are trained to attack the person when they smell bombs/drugs. Some dogs just sit down next to the person with contraband, but some people are DEATHLY afraid of dogs and the scene those people cause is a worse security risk. Dogs are trained to sniff cargo and luggage, not people. And it does cost a FORTUNE to train and care for these dogs.

The dogs are "security theater" as another poster said.

My car was sniffed for drugs once. The dog is trained to scratch what he smells and the ******* left 6" gouges along my hatch. My fault for letting my in-heat boxer ride with me the day before :sad2:

I doubt that..................

"Sell not virtue to purchase wealth, nor Liberty to purchase power." Benjamin Franklin.

or perhaps the more well known:

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. "

Not in the America I live in. This is very dangerous, fascist thinking.
Not by a long shot, sounds like you're the one with the out of whack one of thinking especially if you were suspicious enough that your car was searched for drugs! Whether any were found or not there had to be suspicion for the search to be conducted, they just don't do searches because your dog was in heat!

Well said....:thumbsup2

for the record it was an illegal search and a very evident breach of my fifth amendment rights with no probable cause. At the time I was straight edge. I was and still am an unconvicted, non-guilty citizen. That is immaterial to this post, however, it needed to be said.

While ones rights are a bit "different" on private property the drug/bomb sniffing dogs are a ploy to mitigate liability. Just like the 90 year olds doing a bag search which numerous times I could have carried weight right in front of. The works isn't Disney, guys and girls.
