Everytime we give the dog a bath, she smells "doggy" again by the next day. Can anyone recommend a really good smelling dog shampoo? When our cat goes to the groomer, he smells really good for a few days. Thanks. :pug:

Cloud Star's Buddy Wash. :goodvibes It's YUMMY! Lavender and mint. :)

I used to buy it from Drugstore.com but they're saying it's currently unavailable... 4-6 weeks. I know lots of other dog owners who have bought it pet stores (PetCo) and other places though! :paw:

I first use this oatmeal dog shampoo that is supposed to be good for their skin. Then, I lather my baby up in Johnson's Baby Shampoo. He smells like a sweet smelling baby for a few days.

Crazy Dog Shampoo- the Baby Dog smells like baby powder for quite a while after the bath. I also like the Rainforest, Cherry, and Pina Colada! They also have small spray cologne that match to extend the effect of the shampoo. Read the instructions- they are so cool! (lather, play with dog, skip around the room, etc.)

I'd be hesitant to recommend a human baby shampoo, especially for a pug. :teeth: (I have a bulldog... do pugs and bullies have similar itchies? Yours is VERY cute!!!)

Shampoos made specifically for human beings are pH balanced for people. Dogs have a different pH than us. Human kinds often cause rashes and itchiness. Even gentle baby kinds! :)

So, while it might be ok for certain dogs, I'd still go the route of a doggie shampoo...

Yummy... Pina Colada?! Sounds like I've gotta check out Crazy Dog Shampoo!!!!

That's interesting! My vet told me the Johnson's baby shampoo was OK to use on my dog. However, I've had some concerns with some of the advice (or lack thereof) that this vet has given me. Since this is my first dog, I need to rely on what they tell me since I don't have a lot of experience. I think it's time for me to take my baby someplace else to get some second opinions on things!!

Just something to keep in mind. If your vet recommends it, rather, the NEXT vet you see and trust, then by all means... Take what you read online with a grain of salt. Hee hee!:) You would THINK baby shampoo would be good, because it's gentle enough for babies... :teeth: But it's known to be pretty drying to a pooch's skin.

Another good one I've heard recommended is Mane 'N Tail for horses! Very gentle... (and I hear, inexpensive!!!) Target, Walmart, etc...

Other good doggie ones I've used:

Royal Treatment: www.getroyaltreatment.com The honey oatmeal shampoo...

Earth Bath: www.earthbath.com Again, the oatmeal one and the Mango Tango! YUM. :teeth:

I love it when Grover smells delicious... instead of "wet dog." :cloud9:

Thanks for the suggestions. :flower:

I use Baby Magic baby shampoo and it lasts for several days. I've used it for years on my pugs with no problems.

My Border Collie LOVES to take baths. We have to close the door and lock him out of the bathroom, or he'll open up that bath or shower door and jump right in. I use Vet's Best products. I love the smell of the Hot Spot one with Tea Tree Oil. During the rainy/muddy season, it's not uncommon for our dog to get washed every day, and I've found these shampoos to be the kindest to his skin & coat.
