From my friend Marc who is onsite right now...I asked him to check it out for us.

"The pet run is officially open. I talked to the front desk today and the rule is you can go from your loop to the pet run on the main paths only. You cannot go into a loop that is not yours and the pet loops will remain the same and the non pet loops are still off limits to pets. This is according to Richard at the front desk, the self proclaimed official pet czar or Fort Wilderness(his words, not mine). Take it for what it is worth."

Now we just need someone to take some pictures of the dog run for us !!

Cool! Thanks for posting this, I can't wait to see what it looks like even if my kids don't use it. :)
Also when I called to modify my upcoming reservation for Valentine's weekend yesterday the reservationist said the same thing about FW still having the specific pet loops. :(

I took a picture in my trip blog. It's a big fenced in area thatwas crudely thrown together.

Thats awesome I guess we just missed it being open during our stay, I did take some pics.

That first picture gives us a good idea of how big it is, thanks. Did it look like their were benches for people to sit on ?? I don't know if we will be able to put it to good use though. Our 3 yr old dog has fear issues and although he would love playing with other dogs, he would be freaked out by all of the people. Our puppy may love it though...if I can get her to obey me by then and come back when called. I can just see me chasing her all over the place and her running from me thinking I am playing with her, lol !! I hope all pet owners who use the dog run clean up after their pets and don't give all of us a bad rep.

It doesn't really matter to me about pet/non pet loops either. I am used to camping next to people with dogs, and since I have two of my own it's not like I am going to complain about it as long as they aren't bothering me. I was happy in the 1800 loop last time and it would be fine with me again.

I do very much like the idea of being able to walk to dogs on the main road..even if they can't go into the public areas or non pet loops. It got very boring last time circling our loop !!

It's pretty big, no benches or provisions for shade just yet. no garbage can for the poop either, i guess you just throw it in the canal.

I think the Wonder Beagle is going to like walking by the canal in the dog walk area better. I sure hope Disney didn't spend much on this.

$58.97 + two amigos to dig the holes.

There are no benches or bags to pick up the, well, you know... I am sure this will be taken care of soon, probably another month or 2, based on the speed at which this was put together. I guess it is the thought that counts though, right.

And Gatordad, I counted at least 7 amigos digging holes last week, but that was before lunch.

Yeah if you can could you explain again where this is at the campground? Near what loop?

Unless I'm missing something looking at the pics posted says to me this was slapped together and not too well thought out. First they need a double gate so when getting your dog in all the others can't get out DUH :lmao: . Also a dog run w/o dog pots, trash bins and places for owners to sit :scared1: Also, what are the dogs of the male persuasion supposed to use as a fire hydrant other peoples legs :confused3 . Finally it's location and way of getting small legged dogs is just not convenient for a lot of folks in the main dog loops which I think are the 1600 - 1900.

The double gate is probably for the lawnmowers. If you look there's a smaller gate leaning against the fence at the corner by the orange construction fence. I do agree that it still needs a lot of work.

The construction fence will keep the little dogs in.

Humm, this looks like it work for me as I have two small BT's and I should be put somewhere in one of the Preferred loops anyway, so even if the kids don't want to go into the dog run I think we'll walk over there to the 300 loop area and see what the dilio is. :) I am also anxious to see if they even mention this new dog run when we check in with our BT's. :)

35 days to go til FW!
