Dog-related "pennies" from heaven update post 22

Any updates?:cutie:

No updates. The rescue is run by volunteers, and I know they have many other things going on in their life too. So - no worries from us. The goal for the rescue is to find the perfect home for the dog, not find the perfect dog for us. KWIM? So - for us, we do not mind if the hunt for a new dog takes 2 weeks or 6 months...I do know, that right now - we are looking for a dog that is a little more "mutture", maybe 5 years or older, either a lab or lab mix, either male or female. So - eventually we'll come across a perfect one for us.

We had been looking for a 2-4 year old dog when we found Riley, and ended up with an 8 year old. I still feel that he picked us out. We had a perfect dog, and just needed to "add the love." So while we knew he would be with us for a shorter period of time, it was so worth it. And that is why we do not mind the 11 year old that is at the rescue. Dogs live for today...with no worries about the future. If humans get in that mindset too...many others would adopt older dogs too. Don't get me wrong...the "last" trip to the vet is a hard one.

We got a sympathy card from Riley's doggy day care this weekend. Their comments brought a tear to my eye. Riley was just one of those dogs that everyone loved!

I'll definitely keep you posted!

Thanks for all your comments too! It was very hasrd losing a family member.

Hi clh2,
Thank you for sharing and I am sorry to hear of your loss. I have 3 dogs with one of them being a senior so I fear it won't be too long before we have to make that same decision. :sad2: I am sending pixie dust your way for the adoption. :wizard: You are wonderful people to adopt a 12 year old dog. :grouphug: Best of luck!

Any updates?:cutie:

Yes we have an update. We found out this morning that we weren't the first to inquire about Ella. The family that "is ahead of us" has a meet scheduled this weekend. I can't imagine (based on the description) that this family wouldn't snap her up.

So-the good news - Ella will probably have a new home! I'm just assuming it won't be ours.

Your story made me cry! I'm sorry for your loss.
I'm glad that it looks like Ella is going to have a new family soon, to love her in her golden years. If the other family does choose her, I'm sure your own perfect "match" will be coming along very soon. Please let us know when you find him or her!

:grouphug: Whatever way the decision goes I am sure that your dog was giving you the approval...Dogs give the most unconditional love and ask for so very little...Love our canine family....:flower3:
