I forgot to tell you guys this yesterday. We were sitting on our GC waiting for our friends to go to DHS, it was about 7:15am. A guy comes up to us looking for a lady with a giant brown poodle. He said that the dog attacked his dog and another at the run on monday. He said his dog had to be taken to an animal hospital, and he thought the other one was dead. He said that the lady grabbed her poodle, and ran. No one has seen them, he didn't know if they left or were just hiding.

When we rode past there on monday, there were about 4 dogs in it, and one was barking and lunging at another, if the owner had let it off the leash, it probably would have eaten the little one it was barking at.

We are in a dog loop,:confused3 and so far, both morning we have been here at about 6 am a little ankle biter is let out of a nearby camper, its starts "yapping" and wont shut up until about 7 when I guess they let it back in. If I do happen to see the poodle, I might feed that little sucker to him :rotfl2::rotfl2:

John

Sure hope they find this woman an dog ! IMHO most folk know full well if their pet does not play well with others and should be smart enough not to let them off leash. As for your yappy dog , I'd be have'n a talk with them fine folks . Have a great day ,,sucks here, cold an snowy...Mr.:goofy:

That's awful! I hope those other dogs are ok! That is seriously irresponsible of that owner! Like Goofy said, owners know if their pet does not play well! That lady needs to be held accountable!

We used it several times when we were there in Jan. All dogs played and had great fun. It is not a bad idea IMHO. There are no bad dogs... ONLY STOOOPID OWNERS>>> MRS.:goofy:

I seriously doubt it will be closed, they put it there for a reason.

You don't see Disney stopping golf cart rentals because of a few bad seeds do you?

If anything, maybe they'll assign someone to watch during busier hours for misconduct.

I say put BigDaddyRog in charge he will just bounce them right out!!!!

I'm really not surprised considering the mentality of some of the pet owners I have seen over the last couple of years on the pet loops.

2 years ago I was walking the Wonder Beagle on the 1600 loop early in the AM when this Sharpei came running out at us from a pretty nice Class A. I had a nice sized stick with me and raised it at him and he turned tail, so I assumed he was familiar with this type of discipline. I saw the owner later and went over to chat with him about leaving his dog run loose. It was like talking to a rock. He had this really stupid look on his face and never even said he was sorry. Later I saw the moron outside his camper - he had the dog tied to a tree on a short rope and had a glass of water which he would take a mouthful of and then spit it at the dog, then laugh like an idiot. These are the type that will go to the dog park and let their dog loose and think nothing of it attacking another dog or human. I really think Disney missed the mark on this one.

I want to take our new Yorkie with us sometime, but I won't be taking her to the dog run. She would be gone in one bite.

Sounds to me like you should have used your stick on the dog's owner! I absolutely HATE cruelty of any kind to any animal! As far as the dog park goes, I think it is an ill-conceived idea. Besides which - you have to break the FtW rules of "No pets beyond the exit of a pet loop" or "No pets on golf carts" in order to get your dog to the dog run. Not well thought out at all!!

How many teeth did he have? The owner not the dog.

In my life before kids I had our first labrador retreiver involved in field trials. Let me tell you I saw some things that made me question why some people were allowed to own animals. We've always treated our dogs as members of the family (with rules of conduct like every other family member) and have always had friendly loveable furry friends. That being said I'm not sure I would bring my 100 lb. lab to the dog park. Dogs are dogs and will react in an instinctive manner when thay are threatened or feel their pack (i.e you or your family) are threatened, especially in unfamilar territory.

yea, I will not be taking my dog to the dog run either, simply because I can't even trust the locals at a pet run around here, much less total random people from all over the country...lol.

Some people however really enjoy them, and some dogs do great at them, so more power to them :)

Humm, I know their are just some stupid owners that won't follow the rules no matter what they are, but actually FW has a set path that you can take with your pet even if your way on the other side of the campground from it. We just stayed in loop 800 and their were signs up at the end of the loop that directed you on the main road on how to get to the dog park. Amazingly to me it walked us right through the comfort station on the 400 or 500 loop (I can't remember which on it was specifically), but we all know having your pet at the comfort station is a no-no. Anyway, the path came out it seemed at the end of the 500 loop on the main road. We could see the playground and dog park from there.

We rode our bikes on this path, just to see how long it was and how long it would take to get there and I don't think without carrying them my Boston's would be able to make that walk. It's just to far for them..they are mainly inside dogs anyway.

Anyway, I am sadden to hear that their was a dog attack, but I am not surprised. I am surprised that Disney stopped asking for the shot records of our kids. They use to be pretty adimit about that back in the day. Now I not only have to worry about dog attacks, but goodness else knows what diseases my kids might pick up from a pet that's not being properly taken care of. :(

PS
When we stayed their valentine's weekend the front desk never even mentioned the dog park to us and it wasn't on the map. I knew it was there because of you guys and I figured out how to get there by the "paw" signs at the FW. :)

Not a bad idea, Deb. As far as cruelty, there would have been none. Given the choice between taking out an attacking dog or letting the Wonder Beagle get mauled, the attacker is gonna lose. The death would come quickly and without pain.

The wonder Beagle would have flown away, leaving you alone with the attacker. Gotta watch those wonder beagles, especially now that they are grand champions.
