Dog adopton questions-updated post 57

We ended up adopting the puppy I originally posted about. She's a real sweetie, but not yet pottie trained. We took her to our vet to get checked & found she was well except for a parasite. We paid an adoption fee of 250, and are additionaly responsible for her spaying and last set of shots. Holey Moley she is a lot of work, but I am sure it will pay off when she learns. Any advice is always welcomed!

Congratulations to you & your new family member! What did you name her and how old is she?
Best advice I would give you is crate training too as a pp said and some kind of puppy class for her & the whole family. Looking forward to pictures

we made this mistake a few years ago went thru petfinder- found a 'rescue' and got a sweet small puppy. didn't find out till later that all the red flags were there,we just didnt know them.
1st- these people ran the 'shelter' out of their home, with ALL kinds of animals,tropical animals,dogs,puppies,cats,etc.
2nd,turns out our puppy litter was an 'accident' between 2 older unspayed dogs in their care (v=chihuahua & pekingese) which they were also trying to 'rehome' the parents and the puppies.
3rd- no one was nuetered,they were just obtaining and selling these animals,-not technically rescuing,tho it seemed like some of them would have not easily found a home elsewhere.
4th- they were asking $50 for the adult peke mom, but 200 for the pups. (cute and little) we got a pup,they assured us,when we got her spayed (which we did at 5 mos.) they refund $50.00 b/c they care about the animals
so of course, we pay,bring pupp home, spay,etc.....no rebate for spay(big surprise) and further research told us this wasn't really a rescue,just some people selling animals for a small profit.
Oh well. def. not the worst place in the world, but not an ideal rescue place.And now we have little Stinkdog,whom my DH adores.
