You know, I was on the prescription for years before it went OTC and I still have a bottle. I got curious and looked at it. The directions specifically say to "take one pill at bedtime...." OP - maybe you could try that - instead of in the morning?
Medications tend to react differently depending on the type of person they are administered to, in part or - God forbid - totally. You have to react to the way you react to the meds and act accordingly. For instance, if the medication makes you drowsy, maybe take it in the evening? Is it a controlled release drug? Questions like that can be invaluable. Try the Wikipedia for help - I find it most informative
My DS has been taking it for years. It only makes him a little drowsy but I make him take it at night so it's not a big deal (plus it helps him fall asleep, he's 17 so anything that gets him to bed a little earlier is a good thing ).
