2 year old (or almost 2 year old) play with Potato Heads?
9 year old play with My Little Pony?
Can you tell we have a trip right before Christmas and I am thinking about filling a box with something for someone :goodvibes

My 2 yr old loves Mr Potato head!! I think almost 2 is the perfect age for getting into Mr/Mrs Potato head.

Can't help with the pony question.

potato head sounds great for a 2 year old...I don't know about the ponies, my 9 year old was into ponies about 2 years ago, but doesn't really get them out any more. She still plays with barbies, but truthfully, lately I've been getting her things like books and "mad libs" (which she loves and the whole family can play together). Crafty stuff is good, too, you can get "kits" for friendship bracelets, etc, which should be packable for a trip. Good luck!

My 9 year old lost interest in My Little Pony when she was 8.

She still likes messing around with Mr. Potato Head and has since she was about 2.

DS liked Mr. Potato Head when he was 2.

DD at 18 months LOVES Mr. Potato Head.

Here's a picture to show how much:

It's her Christmas present.

Can't help with the ponies.

My kids have never played with the ponies, so I really don't know.

The potato heads are a big hit for a variety of ages though. We bought a bunch of pieces during our first trip when my kids were 9, 4, and turning 2. We had to get more this year and they still play with them often. Personally, I would either get the big bucket for a joint gift or stuff a box for each with some pieces of their favorite characters. My DD is almost 11 and still enjoys them. (She really doesn't play with any other toys anymore.)

never played with ponies, but she and her brother (8) will still get out the potato heads on occasion. A few weeks ago there was a fashion show and we had to vote for our favorite. :)

My DS just started playing with Mr. Potato Head and he is 23 months old- he loves it!!

The 2 year old would probably love the Potato Head. My 2 1/2 year old really likes him. If you get a box of Potato parts, I have a few pieces of advice:
1. Go to Once Upon a Toy in downtown Disney to buy it. The selection is much better than the selection in Toontown (and Mousegears in Epcot doesn't sell the fill a box Potato Head anymore). If you spend over $50, you get a 10% discount if you have a Disney Visa card.

2. Don't put a potato in your box. It is the same as any regular sized Mr. Potato head from any regular store and the potato takes lots of room that could be filled up with other fun things instead. You also get a few eyes, noses, hats, mouths, and feet with it to pad your collection if you buy the potato at regular store.

3. DO buy arms (and there is a left and right). They are designed to hold accessories and the regular Mr. Potato head arms are not. I'd get several sets in case you have multiple potatoes being built at once. Also, the pirate ears have a left and a right too.

4. If a piece you want is huge and takes up too much room in your box, it is possible to buy pieces individually and then you do not have to get them into the box. They are $2.50 or so if you just buy one piece no matter how large the piece is. There is also a Dumbo ride vehicle that is $5 that you can buy--it is a whole Dumbo and it goes on instead of feet.

5. Have a salesperson help you stuff your box. They are pretty good at getting extra stuff in. I had my box REALLY full and they still got the Dumbo ears on top of the whole thing. Of course, the ears totally stuck out the top and she had to tape the flaps shut since they barely met in the middle, but they put it in that way and rang it up as fitting inside.

6. The pegs are flexible and you can mush them into odd shapes to get more into your box, but I always take all of the pieces out of the box as soon as I leave the store.

I don't know about the ponies, sorry.

Before anyone asks, we got the giant potato head last week instead of the stuff a box. It costs $45ish (can't remember exactly and I don't have my receipt handy).

I think I got at least 4 boxes-full into the giant potato. The only thing that didn't fit at all was Mary Poppins umbrella.

My DD4 (going on 5) loves both the ponies and potato heads. I think she likes the ponies the best, but 9 might be too old for them.

We got a potato head case too - $45 you can fit about 3-4 boxes worth in there - biggest tip I have - get them to pack it! Helen at Once Upon A Toy packed ours and she did a phenominal(sp) job! the only thing that didn't fit was the MP umbrella which she had the big potato hold in the plastic wrapping and the mermad tail which we taped to the tush of the potato like he was wearing it and it was all rung up as fitting in the potato. We have parts from a previous trip already at home. All 3 of my girls love playing with Mr & Mrs potato heads. I even have fun when they let me play with them!

My 5 year old picked the ponies on this past trip - they willl give you tips to pack that box too - I think by 9y.o. they maybe too old for ponies - it depends on the child.
