Does your pet have a "special" toy?

We have two cats, Beatrice and Rosalind. DH adopted them about 9 years ago when they were kittens and the last two left from their litter. Rosalind in particular is a total "daddy's girl", and misses DH when he's gone. About 7 years ago, someone gave DH a Dilbert doll about the size of a beanie baby, and Rosalind adopted it as her special toy. Actually, it's almost like it's her security item/kitten/toy all in one!

When I first married DH 3 years ago, I wasn't working for a few months after I'd moved in. When DH would leave for work in the morning, Rosalind would start crying and then would come out carrying Mr. Dilbert (as we call her doll). As soon as she saw me watching her, she'd drop Mr. Dilbert and run to me for petting.

Now we've noticed that when we come home, we often find Mr. Dilbert in the last place we were in the house. Or sometimes in the morning we'll wake up to discover Mr. Dilbert is in bed with us or on the floor next to one side of the bed. We've also found Mr. Dilbert on top of their food bowl and on the toilet (thankfully the lid was down)!

I thought I'd share a few photos, and see if anyone else's pet has a weird toy fetish like Rosalind...

This is when I tried to get a picture of Ros with Mr. D in her mouth, but she dropped him and jumped on the couch to act all casual...

Jack (our cat) has a thing for these 89 cent toy mice from Pet Smart. He especially likes the brown ones. Almost every night we'll be sitting on the couch watching tv, and see a mouse sail through the air past us.

Under the stove is the mouse graveyard. When I see there are no mice to be played with, I will drag the bottom drawer of the stove out and clear them out from under there...all 13 of them. He goes crazy again. ;)

Oreo has a stuffed yellow bone that she wants at night only. Every night about 9 she starts looking for it and then carries it to some sort of hiding spot. After hiding it, it stays there until I put it in bed with her where she sleeps with it every night. The next evening I will put it on the floor of my bedroom. If she can't find it at night, she wanders and whines until I help her find it. The fact that she is blind now doesn't help, but we've got quite the routine going. :)

That's awesome! I love it! DMIL's cat, Romeo, used to go nuts for those little mice, too, but he always drowned his in his water dish. DMIL would get up every morning to discover half a dozen of the mice sopping wet in the water dish. She'd fish them out and set them on the counter to dry off while Romeo looked on with much concern. He'd jump up on the counter periodically to check on his mice, and when he decided they were dry enough, he'd carry them off to bat around again. And overnight he'd go and drop them back in his water dish...

Sounds like my house! My Russian blue cat, Mulder, loves the white ones. He bites off the tails first, then chases them around until they go under something. Then he sits in front of the fridge, oven or whatever it's under until I go under it and get the mouse out.

Our dog, Annabelle, has a stuffed Holstein (sp?) cow that she sleeps with every night. She also takes it outside with her when it's dark - she's afraid of the dark, but that cow will somehow protect her.

Cooper has had many favorites over the years...

But he has had his multi-colored rope forever, and it has seen better days. He also really likes he squeaky red ball with multi-colored paws on it. He's well aware what we mean when we say "Get your rope!" and "Get your ball!"

My Cat has a tiny stuffed Dog.. Go Figure.. :rotfl:

Cat 1: Simba: He has a beanie buddy cat that he has loved since it was bigger than him. He carries it around by it's tail. He also has a toy that is shaped like a paw that he will guard. I can't forget about his teddy bear either, or his little poof ball. He will take them all into the half bathroom and guard them from the kitten.

Cat 2: Pooh: He loves his crinkle balls they make a crinkly sound he will stash them somewhere and bring them out as he wants.

Cat 3: Koda: He loves shoelaces with mice tied on the end.

Cat 4: Lucky: If one of the other cats has it he wants it so all toys are his favorite. He's taken a recent liking to milk rings and rubber bands though.

My dog goes through cycles with toys but right now she is loving who we call "Egghead". Egghead is a rubber egg that when she squeezes it or rolls on it it squeeks and a chick pops out.....

My pom, Cooper (1.5 years old), has a stuffed brown dog that he's had since he was a couple of months old. This is indeed a very "special" toy to him... as he has relations with it every night after dinner. :rotfl:

Our first dog loves her latest toy. Our new dog fred!
they are best buddies...
Mikeeee

My lovebird has a stuffed toucan bird called toukie. When I squeeze him he makes a toucan call. She'll fly anywhere for that bird. She thinks it's her mate. She spreads her wings when she sees it.

I think this is an excuse for us owners to buy toys.

Bogart has this toy called Big Mean Kitty. He has had it since he was a baby. He sleeps with it every night, he keeps it in his mouth while he watches t.v. or while he's barking at the dogs next door. I got him a dirty rotten kitty and an awful mad kitty for his christmas stocking but they don't compare to big mean kitty that has gotten all faded and awfully snotty. And since we got Sophie he's tearing up a little bit b/c she always tries to grab it out of his mouth.

Anyway here are Bogart and Big Mean Kitty

Right now the my dog's favorite toy is a stuffed squeaky pig. He'll carry it around squeaking it for hours on end. Then he will eviscerate it, leaving the limp carcass under my bed. Then we will get him a new squeaky animal, then...

my dog chopper, is a shar pei that we adopted, and hes OBSESSED with his boo stuffed animal. (yes boo from monsters inc) he wont go to sleep without it. :cloud9:

I used to have 4 cats and they all love those mice!!! I had to laugh when you mentioned the "graveyard" under the stove!!!! That brings back so many memories...we would have tons of those mice under there!!!!!

Just wanted to say.....One of my cats was named Romeo!!!!! I sure do miss "Rome" as we sometimes called him!!!!!

Our youngest Bichon has a mouth thing. He has to have something in his mouth to greet you. Sometimes it's pretty amazing what he manages to carry around. His favorite toy is a stuffed Baby Bop toy from the Barney gang. It seems big for him but he loves it anyway. He has 2 right now but they get pretty beat up. If he makes a hole in it he takes all the stuffing out and will take off the eyes. All in all they hold up pretty good. I have my niece looking our for cheap Baby Bops at garage sales to keep him supplied.

OK....back to the question......Mabel is addicted to her ball. She loves her ball. Loves to play ball and can go for hours on end with the thing!!! We have 3 of them now (they are the Kong balls that are very sturdy for her chewing!!). When it was blistering cold here.....she wanted to go outside to play ball so bad....but with 20 below windchills we weren't about to!!!

It is getting warmer now (thank goodness!!) and we have been outside playing ball lately.....if you could only see her expression when getting to throw it....it is impossible to describe....she is mezmorized more or less!

She takes one to bed mostly every night....She is normally never without her ball (or one of them) close by especially if someone is going out the door for some reason...

Here is a pic of her dead asleep with her "ball".....this was the day after our friend Xmas party at our house....we stayed up just about all night....she was pooped and wouldn't let go of her ball!!!!!

PIC IS 2 POSTS DOWN!!!!

OK!!.........how come I can't get my pic to work from my above post!
