have a tattoo? Just curious, the thought popped into my head. Since I have 3 older teens and I'm contemplating getting a tattoo. I don't know anybody my age who's mom has a tattoo. I had a very trashy aunt who had several. But she sort of reminded you of someone who you'd meet at a truck stop.

No, and she about fainted when I showed her mine. Actually, for about two months she was convinced it was a temporary tattoo, but when it didn't come off, she had to face reality.

So when I have kids, their mom will have a tattoo. I don't think it's a big deal, unless you have many, many tattoos. I bet your kids will think you're a very cool mom! :smooth:

No, my mom does not have a tattoo( she is in her 50's).

I think it's fine. I mean, if you got the words "hoochie mama" tatooed across your stomach and wore a swimsuit top out in public every day to show it off THAT might be a little over the top, but something cute and subtle is fine.

My SIL's mom has a few tattoos and she is a very classy lady.

If I weren't allergic to the ink, I'd have gotten one on my ankle or shoulderblade area long ago.

My mom is deceased but she did have one. She would be 65. How weird is that? LOL, the tattoo at 65. I hate them but my 21 yr old has one.

my mom doesn't have one.

but she actually likes mine (you can only see it if I'm wearing a bathingsuit or my pants/shirt are riding low/high)

she never did like my old eyebrow ring...but that's a different thread

Sorry, the thought of my mom having a tattoo
I know, that's what made me post this. I can't picture my mom or any of my friends moms having a tattoo. My mother was bold, getting a second piercing. She keeps looking at my cartiladge and thinking she might get that done.

No and she doesn't know about mine either, so Shhhh!!

My Grandmother is 79 and she has always wanted a tattoo of a butterfly on her hip.

 Heavens no, not my mom! But my aunt and cousins all got a matching tattoo a few years ago.

No, but she keeps saying she's going to go get one (she's 58 - I can't picture it)

I wonder how my daughter will feel when she gets older that her mom has 2 (thinking of getting a 3rd).

The only women I knew with tattoos in my younger days were biker chicks. My friend's mother was one -- she abandoned my friend as a baby and then came back into her life at about 16. We all thought she was the bomb, she drove a van which she let us smoke pot out of.

Anyway, she had several tattoos on her forearms, which I always thought such an odd place for a female to put one. I sure wouldn't want one there. I saw her not long ago, she looked about 150 (years of hard partying caught up with her!) and her tattoo looked about that old as well. If I ever got a tattoo (highly unlikely), it would be in a place where I could hide it when I get really old. :p

My mom does not have one, but I would not put it past her to get one. She has become a wild woman in her 50's.

DH and I have talked about getting them. Of course we had a lot to drink before that discussion....

I wonder what everyone's tatoos will look like when they are 70. I don't think am enjoying that mental picture.

Denae :sunny:

I used to work with a woman who was the executive secretary for the president of a college. She was in her 50's and always perfectly dressed and coiffed. Well, imagine my shock when she told me she had a tattoo! She and her daughters (in their 20's) all went at the same time and they each got a matching tattoo of a rose on the hip. I made her show me because I just couldn't believe her!

Come to think of it, as time went on and I got to know her better, I also found out that she went rattlesnake wrangling once a year and rode a motorcycle upon occasion. She was just a hoot.

My mom has one and she got it about a year ago. She is 44. I think it is cool for her and the fact that it says mine and my dd's name on it is even cooler!!!!

Nope, she's 61 years old and I'm sure she's not considering one at this point in her life either!! LOL!

I don't have one either...can't imagine having something so permanent! Tastes change over the years and it would be lousy to be stuck with one forever!!

A firefighter friend of mine has the maltese cross with his fire department and his 2 daughters names tatooed on his upper arm, but other than something like that or a branch of the service being tatooed, I think that there may be regrets down the road! (especially with women!) Maybe I'm wrong, but they're just not my thing!
