Just got calendar for DS whos in 5th grade. There is a meeting at the school tomorrow night with the principal for all parents. However, there is no mention of meet the teacher at all. Does your middle school still have meet the teacher night? or did it stop at this grade?

Yes, 3 schools, three different nights and this is the first time we havent had 2 in one night.

Yep.
We even have them in high school! It is very common to have one in all of the schools around here, i cant imagine not meeting the teachers!

Yes, ours is Wednesday night. We follow our child's schedule through a typical day, and listen to a 15 minute presentation from each teacher.

We have a back to school b-b-q night-and a chance to meet all the teachers-this is in both middle school and HS -although honestly my kids are 8th and 12th and I know most teachers by now!

We also go through an abbreviated version of our student's day. We spend 8 minutes with each teacher, then a 3-minute passing period. It take about 2 hours total.

I am a junior in high school, and I still have Back to School night! I believe each teacher gets 10 minutes to explain their class. (6 classes in all.)

My Oldest is in 6th grade and DH is at meet the teacher night tonight. It is to late for us all to go, so he got the duty this year.

Yup - we had open house at DD's middle school last week. We went through a shortened version of her classes, we always enjoy it. When DS was in high school they had parent mini-night, again we always went. It is sad to see how FEW parents actually show up for these things. I figure if you can't take one night a year to show some interest in your child's school, it is kind of sad. (I realize there are people who work nights and can't make it - I am not talking about you!!!)

I still have meet the teacher night in high school. Except for juniors and seniors, it's not until about a month after school starts, which I will never really understand. (I'm only a sophomore, but I take all junior classes, so none of my teachers were at the freshman and sophomore orientation)

we start middle school in 6th grade. at meet the teacher night we follow our kids' class schedules and meet each teacher for about 10 minutes. we also get to met the guidance counselor, who is the inital contact point between the parents and the school.

Middle school starts in 6th grade for us. We've already had parent orientation, parent-child breakfast, and Wednesday night is the back to school to meet teachers and go into the classrooms.

DD just started middle school (6th grade here) and back to school night is Thurs. night. Dh and I ride her bus to school and follow her schedule with 10 minutes per teacher. She is loving the fact that her teachers said if we are late to class they will give us detention!!!:p

Yep,

I am a Middle-School LA/Reading teacher, and we just had open school night last Thursday. Parents got to vist their child's teachers.
It lasted for about an hour and a half.

Our school has back to school night all the way through their senior year. From K-3 we also have 3 parent teacher conferences (no report cards, just portfolios) and we have one parent teacher con. for 4th and 5th grades. They start changes classes in 6th so no more parent teacher conf. Our (6th grader) back to school night is this Thurs.

Back to School night was last Thursday for us. And it had VERY LOW attendance that neither teacher did the usually "this is what we do in X grade" talk. I was very disapointed. For me that is why I go to Back to School night. I am at the school every day to pick the girls up so by BTS I have already meet the teachers.
