I wanted to see if anyone else's guide calls to wish them a great trip when they visit WDW. (sorry if this has been done already)

Our guide, Ayanna Davis, has called on both of our DVC trips just to wish us a great stay...we think it's neat and makes us feel like we're more than just another commission!!! :thumbsup2

Anyone (or everyone) else has this happen...is it just SOP for the guides??? Still makes us feel appreciated. :)

He has called us both times...AND, the last time, he gave us a care package with baseball hats, mugs, cups, playing cards.....Our guide is a good guy....Very receptive.....I stay in touch with him even before we go to WDW...

Our guide, Bernard called us and left a lovely message our first trip as DVC'ers. Great guy and always happy to talk when I just call to verify current promotions.

NO! Thank goodness.

I don't believe in the "My guide loves me" view. Guides are salespeople. I don't want to be sold anything else LOL! They are calling to remind you they are available to SELL.

My guide is great. He returns my calls quickly and does what I want done.....that's all I expect!

Wow! The first time we even talked to our guide was a couple of days ago when DH called someone random to ask a question about DVC financing. They asked who are guide was and we didn't even know. They looked it up for us.

We purchased our origianal DVC contract through resale and I guess we were just assigned a guide.

So does he get some commission or something when we add on next week at the Doorway to Dreams event even though he had nothing to do with it?

I'd like the kind of guide who sens us giftbaskets!

Nope. Our guide has never called us. I kind of get the impression that since we didn't buy from him and bought resale after taking the tour, that we're not as "important". I could be totally off, but that's how I feel.

Thats why I think our guide is just a genuine good guy...We did not buy from him at all...And he knows we probably wont add on....He is just very good to us.

I think he's so good to you because you were the winner of the big DVC prize. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with that, but I think that's why.

But I dont think he got anything from us winning? I dont know if he made a commission at all......

Bernard is our guide also and he is great. He often leaves us a message.

I believe in the our guide "loves us." But I think he is just a pro like that.

The contract you purchased via resale was an original contract that someone else had purchased from DVC through an assigned Guide. That is why you are assigned to that particular Guide.

He would have done everything required for the original sale as any other Guide does, so yes he definitely had something to do with it.

Nope - no phone calls for us. I didn't even know that other Guides DID call their members until I read it on this board after our first trip. I think it would have been nice.

No and it makes me really mad. We bought and have traveled numerous times and never heard a peep from him. But boy, when I called to add on, he called me back right away! If we add on again, I am asking for a different guide. I don't think that if my guide calls me he "loves" me. But it does show a little attention to detail that a lot of people appreciate. I appreciate a little attention after spending all that money.

Yes, we got calls the last two trips.... just good follow up for the guides to do so.

Yep, we get a call each trip. Our guide is Michael Cramer and we are very happy with him!:thumbsup2

It's interesting to know why we were assigned that particular guide. Thanks!

But the comment about him having nothing to do with it, is regarding the add-on that we are planning. We had never even spoken with him or received any mail or email from him. We have just researched on our own and decided to add-on, which we will do at the Doorway to Dreams event next week. I just wonder if he gets something from that. It's fine if he does, I don't care. I was just impressed that other people have much more involved guides.

My guide didn't return my calls when I had ( and am still having) problems with my account, when I wanted to buy DVC, or when I wanted to know the booking dates for BLT. He did call last week to say that he hoped I was having a good time on my trip, presumably the trip I don't leave for for another two weeks. :sad2:

I haven't heard from my guide since we purchased in Nov. and sent the paperwork back.
There is one thing about it that does annoy me. When the reservation date for BLT was moved up to Feb 8th, from March 1st. NOBODY from Disney notified me, I read it here.
I would have been completely in the dark, and missed out on getting any reservation at all.
I remember reading that the guides were supposed to call each DVC BLT member, that didn't happen.
That annoys me.
