Extra cheese, beans or rice ? I went to a different area on vacation and the Chipotle employees gave very small scoops and extra of an item was $1.00 each. Like I asked for a little more cheese since it was very lightly sprinkled on top. extra $1.00 for slightly more. More than a spoon of rice was $1.00. I get the veggie with very limited toppings(No peppers, guacamole or corn) and it just seemed like I over paid for the amount of food. Usually its no issue to get more of the other items.

I've never been to a Chipotle that charged extra for things like that. Sounds like you got a bad one.

I think I would have left that Chipotle. I have never been charged extra for anything. I ask them to put on less cheese since they put on so much. I will be on the lookout for this new and disturbing trend.

Never, DH asks for an extra scoop of rice every time he goes in. At the two different locations we've been to, we've never been charged extra

I am in love with the steak bowl. If you order a double scoop of meat or the guacamole. They charge you. All of them will tell you b4 they scoop. I have never seen or heard of any other extra fees for a bit more. I do have to say, some Chipotle locations are far more generous with portions then others.

I believe it is a franchise and owners can charge for more. Many fast foods do this now. Charge for anything not in the description. For example, Carl's jr. charges up to a $1 if you don't use cash. Some don't. I won't go to the ones that charge.

If I don't get a big scoop of cheese, I ask for more. Never charged. For 1000 calories, I want each mouthful to explode with yummyness.

The few I've been to don't, but I've only ever asked for extra rice. Sometimes I get rice on my tacos and they don't charge for that either even though that's "extra". I usually try to go to the same one that gives me a generous portion to start with so I don't need to ask! Now I want chipotle!

The only thing I have ever been charged extra for is the guacamole. I wonder if it is something decided by each restaurant rather than company-wide.

1000 calories, I had no idea! Less cheese, less calories. I can only half usually. I have only asked for extra lettuce, ours. Are pretty generous with the toppings though.

Guac is always extra and meat is extra if you want more but I wouldn't pay extra for anything else.Cheese might be something they could possibly charge extra for but I wouldn't know as I've never asked for extra cheese.

We never got small portions of beans or rice from them. They do charge extra for extra cheese, but most fast food restaurants do charge more if we want extra cheese whether if it is for a burger, a pizza, or a burrito.

They aren't supposed to charge extra for sides of rice, beans, or lettuce. Sour cream or cheese either, unless you want a ridiculous amount of them.

Guac and meats, yes, those are extra.

Happened to us last Tuesday. went to Chipotle, got DS a "kids meal" with cheese quesadilla, asked for double rice-no beans, and a side of lettuce. Got charged for the side of lettuce. The newly promoted manager said he was told by his boss to do it that way. So, I reordered, a soft taco kids meal, no meat, pressed, and lettuce on the side. LOL, can't charge me for lettuce on the side of a taco. ;)

We go to a locally owned place and they do have a double the meat charge but no charge for anything else. They will ask you if there is enough on there or do you want more. They also have an amazing salsa bar with about a dozen choices that is free with any purchase. Yummy and huge portions.

DS16 likes two different salsas...mild becuase its more like tomatoes and either medium or hot for the spice...been to many many chipotles in different states and never had to pay extra.

My Chipotle only charges extra for guacamole and additional meat. I would have pushed back or left that location. Yuck!

I was irked the other day when our Burrito Beach charged me $1.00 extra for veggies, even though I left off the rice, cheese, and sour cream. The made an extra buck that day, but they lost a customer!

Dang...now I want a burrito...:upsidedow

We have only ever been charged for the extra steak.

Lately, we've found a great way to order is to place a normal burrito bowl order and then a side bowl of rice. Then just split the toppings off the one bowl. It ends up coming to $8-something instead of $13-something and we eat less of that 1,000+ calories. Neither of us can finish a single burrito bowl anyway.

I wonder if you had a new person working. I know they have tried to charge me extra when I order guacamole with my veggie burrito until another employee tells them its free with the veggie.

Thanks, now I am craving Chipotle!! :-)
I have never been charged yet, but I did have one tell me a few weeks ago, that I would have to pay extra for salsa for a kids meal, because that would count as one of the sides. So, it was supposedly your choice of 2 of rice/beans/salsa. Yeah, whatever. I said fine, I'll pay for the salsa, but the cashier didn't charge me anyway.
