Yep, Dd is 5 and has a TV in her room. I couldn't handle fighting over watching Sponge Bob or whatever is on the Nick.........
We don't have TV's or computers in any of the bedrooms in our home. We have a TV in the family room, and one in the office (hooked up to the Playstation) along with the computer. To me, two TV's in one house is plenty! We read before bed, plus I can keep a closer eye on what they watch if the TV's are in the family areas. (Sleep studies have actually shown that TV just before bed can keep you from having a good night's sleep!) Anyway, that's just my own opinion. . .to each his/her own!!![]()
Thank you both for your replies, they both make sense. I guess with me not being a real tv watcher, and my DD is older, I just was thinking why not. But you both have really valid points. Thanks for the calm responses.Angel, I don't allow it because my older son has OCD. If he stirs at all in the night, he feels he HAS to get up to watch TV, play his DS or do anything other than go back to sleep.
If not for that, I probably would have TVs in both rooms. The way the TVs are in our house right now, either my DH or I would wake as soon as we heard them turned on. Keeps my OCD boy in check. My younger son realizes that it'd be bad for his brother, so he's okay with not having one in his room. Besides, he's the one who *really* likes his sleep, so I think he'd be seriously annoyed if someone woke him up at 5am!

For those that don't allow it can I ask why?
I make a lot of parenting mistakes, but I don't feel like my kids are missing anything by not having a tv in their room. And why do kids NEED a tv in their room?
