I call my mom's car "Great White Shark"...only because her car seems like one.. and well, she's got a Suburban, lol.

Many years ago, sometime in the 70's, we had a vintage VW. The color was a darker shade of green & DH named it "hefty bag".

When I learned to drive, in the late 70's, we had a Pontiac Grand Prix. Forget the year, but that thing was HUGE--it looked like the front end went on forever when you looked out the windshield. Plus it needed a muffler & drank gas like it was water so DH named that car "thunder pig".

This is an amusing thread. It's fun to see what others have named their cars.

Red VW golf received the name "Dot" from day one because it is about the size of a dot. We also have had a Jeep Wrangler named Sophie, a Chevy Truck called "Blue Goose".

I didn't realise people DIDN'T name their cars!!!

I have a white sebring convertible named Cleopatra - Cleo to her friends!
DH has a black mitsubishi galant named Gary - he's going to hit 150,000 miles this year and I'm hoping we can put Gary out of his misery soon

My mom has a silver VW golf named Betty, my dad has a brand new silver jaguar he calls Sir!

Oh, and we named our GPS system too! She was named Jean after DH's aunt who passed away in 2007 - that may sound a little weird but the GPS just reminded us of her! Jean could be really difficult, sometimes did things just to be awkward and had big sulking fits when she didn't get her way! The GPS was a nightmare...if we tried to go a different way than the route she was telling us, she'd totally shut down - and every now and then she would have us do a U-turn for no reason, only to have us do another U-turn to have us going back the same way we were going originally!!! It drove us crazy, but when she finally broke, we missed her!

Had to replace our head gasket.
Don't buy a Chrysler Town & Country Mini-Van.
We've had it 9 years (only 80,000 miles) and we've replaced:
transmission, 2 car batteries, head gasket... the electronic doors don't work (that started after year 2)
My car.... a piece of poo.

My 02' Blazer is named Billy. We had a station wagon when I was learning to drive and that was the "family truckster" from National Lampoons Vacation. And yes everytime you started it, smoke would blow out just like the movie.

I have never named a car; but we did name the vacuum that cleans the swimming pool--it's name is Robbie. And we named the old, canister vacuum that we used in the day care R2D2 (it really looked like R2D2 getting pulled around the building).

Guess we have a thing about naming strange looking vacuums???

We have a black Volvo 850 named Sven and a brown Volvo V70 XC named Helga. My husband is getting a new van, but he never gives it a name. It's just "the van".

Speaking of pools....

We used to have this little lobster that would float in the pool that had a thermometer attached to it. Everytime you were floating it would seem that thing would be rubbing against you. So we named it Chester the Molester

I am so inspired, I need to name the Ford Fusion.
It's kind of like a champagne type of color...I was thinking either Betty (Ford)
or Farrah (Like Farrah Faucet's Blonde hair).
Anyone have any creative names...I feel so left out

1980 brown Pontiac Monza named Brown Thunder (BT)
1999 yellow Ford Mustang conv. named The Hunny Pot (still driving it)
2006 "magnesium" Chrysler Pacifica named Bubbles (aka The Bubbler, Bubs, The Bub-a-nator, etc)

It should be a law to name your car & get the name put on the title!!

I always name my cars...DH isn't so into it.

Some of the cars I have had:

78 Blue Buick - Big Blue Boat
VW Diesel Rabbit - Hip Hop
Red Cavalier - Rudolph (bought him for Christmas)
Mist. Gallant - Ella - - we just sold her to our mechanic and miss her

My current car is named Sunny - because he has a sunroof. We also just bought a new black Altima which my husband has been thinking about a name - - I just call it "My Car"...even though it is his car he drives daily .

My first GPS, which I didn't like, was Alice. As in, Go ask Alice. I got a new GPS, so now Alice belongs to DH, which is fitting since he bought it. It's one of those messed up ones that will say "Turn left" when the only thing to the left is the edge of a cliff.

I haven't named my new GPS, but one of my work partners calls her Junior for Alice Junior, and it'll probably stick.

My first car (Firebird) was That Streak since most people who saw it were usually saying, "What was that streak of silver that just went flying by?" They said it never slowed down long enough for anyone to know what it was.

My second car started out as Betty Davis, because I had a little stuffed dog from a boyfriend. Kenny thought the dog had Betty Davis eyes. Betty Davis morphed into BT, which became Beethoven, which fit.
