So we are planning on a WDW trip in Feb for the Princess Half Marathon, and I am trying to convinve DH to stay the week. And given the low crowd levels (1-2 the entire weekend except the half marathon weekend), I think he will be willing since he hates crowds.

We are planning on taking my oldest DD who will be 4, so it's likely that the evening ones will be out. So, given that the crowds are overall low, is there an extra benefit for going to the EMH? And we will probably get park hoppers because we like the flexibility, and I think if we stay a week it will be worth it

yes even better with low crowd times. You will be able to get in and get alot done on EMH mornings while everyone else is sleeping. With kids that age I would at least try to make the one at MK and take advante of all the attractions that will be open. Park hours are shorter usually during those weeks as well so maximizing that morning time will get you 'done' with the park faster and maybe you can spend an afternoon/evening at DTD or dining at one of the resorts relaxing.

I agree. It's amazing how much you can get done in an hour during a low crowd period.

I believe that morning EMH is the best touring the park hour you will have at any theme park at WDW. I believe in using it no matter what time of year that we go. As for the evening EMH, that depends on time of year and how long our trip will be.

For our upcoming trip we are using the Epcot morning EMH, the AK morning EMH, the BB morning EMH, and the evening MK EMH. We have a full week, but wanted to try to avoid the heat of the day as much as possible and dodge the crowds a little bit. We are taking midday breaks because neither of us is getting any younger and the heat does wear us out, so it's better to take a break than end up cranky and miserable by 7pm.

When I have the chance to go solo, I usually do more EMH's, because while I am not a morning person any other place other than WDW, I am always a night owl.

Morning EMH are always good.

Evening EMH are most valuable in slow times, when the parks are closing at 5 or 6 and you want to do something in the evening. (Evening EMH are not so great on busy days, because crowds do not dissipate, and queues for headline attractions are virtually the same wait time as during regular hours, except in the last hour before closing.)

I've only done morning EMH in the summer when I wanted to get out before the heat and the crowds.

It is always less crowded during EMH so use it for the rides you love to do!!!! when it does get crowded - use Fast Pass!:surfweb:

I would also recommend going for AM Extra Magic Hour because you can see the popular attractions with little or not wait, plus you can get Fast Passes for the earlier return times and before an attraction might run out of them.
