Does what you pay matter?

I haven't wanted to mention this because I am afraid it will put a chip in the magic for me, but does anyone else feel that if you have received a deep discount on a room, you are treated differently?

We have stayed conceirge at the BC and Poly and both times received an AP discount of 45%. Also, we received Savannah view rooms at AKL for $89.00 a night when they closed POFQ and forgot to tell us! On all three of these occasions I felt like the CM's who checked us in were distant and not very friendly, and that the concierge staff wasn't very helpful on the couple of occasions we asked them questions. We have never felt this at the moderates or WL even though we almost always have an AP discount. All of our other visits have gone great and we always felt welcomed. We will be staying at AKL conceirge in January (with or without an AP discount) and I don't even want to call the staff for PSs.

We are a normal looking family, friendly, with well behaved teens. We all shower and brush our teeth daily. So has anyone else felt like the ugly step child when paying less for a deluxe room?
 
Not at all! We've stayed AKL and Poly twice- always w/AP discount and we've had very friendly CM's. At both resorts they gave us the exact room location we requested, too.

CM's check in tons of people all day long- people that might be paying less than you and people who are paying a lot more than you. I don't think they really care :confused3 -Steph
 
I have gotten either the general codes, post card code or AP codes for our stays at WL, POR, POFQ the POP and the Poly. I have always gotten great service and never been treated badly.
 
I have stayed at many resorts w/ an AP or FL Res code and have never had a problem. The only time I had a CM that was "sketchy" was when we went to the Poly. We had a room request, upon check-in the CM changed it for a "better" room by his account, & it was AWFUL! We called the desk & got another room right away. I don't think that incident had anything to do with the discount, just a CM that needed a new job location. :earsgirl:
 

Quite the opposite! We stayed recently at WL on a CM rate and were upgraded at checkin and treated wonderfully.

Do the concierge staff even get info on what you paid for the room? I would think the only CM that sees is the one checking you in and after that it doesn't really matter.
 
I don't think they care and I wonder if they even know. I have stayed numerous times using a 50% off rate and have never been treated shabbily. We even received a complimentary (unasked for) upgrade to concierge at the Poly!!! I know people who have paid rack rate and have not been treated very nice. I guess it just depends on the cm!!
 
I too don't think that the CMs even know or care about who has paid what rate. We have used the general codes the last 2 years we went & my DW has even asked for & received room upgrades ( Poly garden to lagoon view & WL standard to courtyard) We never noticed any difference in treatment.
