Does walking do anything for your waistline?

You need carbs to provided energy to exercise, so you don't need to stop eating them altogether, you just need to eat the right ones as the PP said wholegrain rice, pasta as its a slow releasing energy source it will make you feel full for longer:thumbsup2

Just weigh your self already :lmao:.

A woman your size can burn a little less than 100 calories a mile walking or running, so if you consistantly walk 3-4 miles a day and watch your diet a little more closely, you could end up losing a pound or so a week just by walking and cutting a couple hundred calories.

I would suggest adding some intervals (periods of running) to your walks and building up to jogging and adding some weight training. Weight training is great for changing your body and keeping the weight off long term.

finding whole grain foods isn't easy when my aunt comes up with excuses to eat out for every meal. And she only goes to places like jason's deli, panera bread, subway, souper salad like once in a blue moon. These are the kind of places i could eat at all the time and not get tired out it.

How much more calories does hiking on mountain trails burn?? I know yosemite won't be an option everyday but when i get to cali i want to go out there at least once a month.

Burns a lot more calories as your heart rate gets jacked up higher.

In April, I started the "Fat Smashers Diet" (eating more veggies/fruits and cutting out the processed foods/candies, etc.) Because I just had foot surgery, I started walking. I walk 3-4x a week (I power walk-I walk a 13 min. mile.). I also started light weight lifting and kickboxing. I've lost about 10-15 lbs. (I don't know for sure cause I don't weigh myself.) I've gone from a size 14-12/ to 10/8. I think a healthy diety combined with cardio and weight training can help your mid-section. I believe that ab/core work can be done everyday if you do a variety of ab/core exercises.
