Does US have/Does Canada have...?

The big movie chains here are Famous Players and Cineplex Odeon

What would you say are the three biggest Realty companies?

Here are probably Remax, Century 21,Sutton Group, and Royal Lepage

In my area we have:

Snickers bars - yes
Twix Bars - yes, my daughter's favorite along with Kit Kat (not dark chocolate)
Barqs Root Beer - I think we have this. I'll pay attention in the store, but I think we do.
Dunkaroos - no, don't know what this is
Old Dutch chips - no, but I would LOVE to try them
Lays Chips - yes
Alpahbet Shaped Pretzels - no
Cheerios - yes
Shreddies - if it's shredded wheat, yes, if it's not, no
Pizza Pops - no

Do you have Oreo's? With double stuff too?

We have Century 21, and Remax. These are the only 2 that we have in our area that are national. All others are privately owned small businesses in my town. I'm sure someone from a bigger city would know more about this than I do.

We have and love oreos. Oreos with double stuff, oreos with chocolate in the middle, oreos that are fudge-covered, mini oreos....yum

Do you have Dubble Bubble bubble gum?
Bubblicious?

Do you have mojos? I love mojos, and I haven't been able to get them in canada for about 4 years now.

Btw to answer a few questions that have been asked:

We have oil heat as well as oil heated hot water and it's more expensive to heat than cool because our cooling season is 3 months. I'd say our electric bill raises maybe $20 - $30 a month when the AC is turned on. Well worth it to us. Oil runs us about $1200 - $1500 a year, but remember, it also heats our hot water.

I don't think our schools are set but in my town, elementary is K thru 5th grade (next town over it's 6th grade). Middle school, or junior high runs 6th, 7th, and 8th. High school is 9th thru 12th. I also wanted to add that I don't know a single person who did not go to kindergarten EVEN though it's not required. I don't think most Americans even know it's not required. I didn't until this thread. I did know legally a child doesn't have to be enrolled until a certain age though. I still think that age is 7, but I wouldn't take that to the bank.

Another thing. We do have preschool. I'm not sure what the age for enrollment is for it. I know head start is paid by the government, but you have to be very low income to qualify. I think the government considers low income children to be more at a disadvantage and more in need of preschool. I never agreed with this, but that's the way it is. Otherwise, you had to find private preschool and pay for it yourself. It's quite expensive too.

For chips we have: sour cream and onion, BBQ, salt and vinegar, regular, onion & garlic, mesquite bbq, I'm sure there are others, but this is all I can think of. Pringles has in addition to those listed, cheese, pizza, jalapeno, ranch, hot, cajun, chili cheese. I'm sure there are many others too. Doritos are another kind of chip and they include MANY other types of flavors too.

A pic of US Smarties:

We did have those baby walkers when my kids were young. I'm not sure if we do today or not. I've never heard that they're illegal now, so I assume that we do. I think you mean something like this?

I couldn't live in a world without Oreos! :worship:

:rotfl:

I don't know what mojos are? I have a feeling we're not on the same wavelength with that term.

Quick definitions (Mojo)

# noun: a magic power or magic spell

In the US, it's used as slang in the context of, You're interfering with my mojo.

I don't think we have Dubble Bubble, but we do have Double Bubble:

Bubblicious Bubble Gum

Bubble Yum (much softer)

EDIT:

Okay, so I was wrong about the Dubble Bubble. LOL I just checked the pic and seen I was mistaken. It seems they are one in the same.

Bazooka is another gum we have. Not as popular anymore, but it goes back many generations.

You always got a little comic in the wrapping.

Looks like all our gum is the same.

The 'smarties' that you took a picture of are called 'rockets' here!

Smarties here are chocolate in a hard candy shell, like m&ms, but as someone said earlier, they are prettier colors!

MoJos are little candies, they used to be 5cents each. They are about the size of your thumnail, and they were individually wrapped. The flavours were; green-mint, orange-orange, yellow-banana, red-strawberry, pink-cola. They were so yummy. I ate them by the bagful when I was pregnant! I wish I could find them somewhere.
My friend that grew up in Santa Rosa, California was just over and was reading this-she found it very cool to see all the differences, and the things she had forgotten. (shes been in canada 15 years, but travels to the US 3x a year) She said, wow you have spent alot of time doing this. I said it is addictive, you don't know until you start....... :flower:

Does the US have Tide, Downy, Cheer, Bounce, Sunlight laundry soaps?

I'm thinking I saw Boston pizza on my last trip to n.falls, ON. I want to know is it just my luck or do pizza huts in Canada not have bread sticks?

We have Bread Sticks here in Nova Scotia Canada

Do other parts of Canada have colored gold fish crackers? We dont but I have seen them in both Maine and Florida.

I haven't seen any coloured goldfish here, but have bought them in the States. My kids won't eat the coloured ones! :rotfl:

No colored goldfish in Alberta :guilty:
We do have breadsticks at our pizza hut though :)

Does the US have any colors/flavours of licorice besides red and black?

it must just be my luck than. I asked and the people working at pizza hut look at me funny and I don't think it's b/c of my accent.

Yes we have A & W's

Does Canada have Fresca (its a type of pop made by coke)

Oh yes, we have tons of different colors and flavors of licorice! I know that I've gotten different flavors (like cola, blue raspberry, orange, peach, and green apple) at Target before.

"Cottage country" is the favorite family vacation spot. Cottages are a big thing up here and many people have a cottage a couple of hours out of the city that they use on weekends and in the summer. Other popular destinations: Toronto, Victoria, PEI, Algonquin Park, Ottawa, Banff, Peggy's Cove (Nova Scotia), Whistler, Montreal.

In New Hampshire, Vermont & Maine it is also popular to have a 'cottage', we call them 'camps'. They are usually humble, but homey & not centrally heated, but with woodstoves or fireplaces.
The last few years, there has been, in the southern tiers, a trend developing tearing down the old family camps & building HUGE 'summer' trophy homes-
Lovely spots such as Colebrook, Pittsburg, the Notches, in NH are quite near Canada!
:goodvibes

I don't think Canada has white Castle, but we do have White Spot

Are Seatbelts required everywhere, or is it on a state by state basis?
