Does this sound right?? Please help

I called today and they said no pin, and then i asked if they could check under all our names? then she checked my husbands name and said yes there it is. BUT NOT FOR your Little Mermaid room!
She said I'd have to change resorts to say Pop Century or upgrade to a suite at Art of Animation, and then it would have to be two different reservations since we arrive on the 9th and free dining starts on the 11th. I did the math and that only saves us $230 because when you make another reservation for the two days, you lose the money in park tickets which are cheaper the longer you stay. So free dining is not of much use to us.

Is there something i'm missing, or anyway around this? I was really hoping for free dining, and now that i have it, i cant really use it!

Yes, that's quite possible. Disney only offers discounts on the resorts/room types that are not booking up as well as they'd like. The Little Mermaid rooms have been very popular, and Disney doesn't have much reason to discount rooms that people are booking without a discount.

LM rooms have yet to be on any discount, because they fill up so fast. Discounts are meant to fill rooms that aren't selling.

You can do a room only reservation the first two days and then FD can kick in; you can stay in the same resort as long as there is availability at that resort. If you book both the room only and the package as the same booking category, and you link the reservations, must likely you will not have to move when your package starts.

Tickets are tied to your length of stay and you only have to have a two day ticket to get FD. You can purchase tickets for length of stay and pick them up to three days early at guest relations at any of the parks or DTD. When you check-in for your package, you can have the concierge desk transfer your tickets to your KTTW, but only after you have checked in.

CM's on the phone will tell you it cannot be done, but a reliable CM on the Theme Parks board says it can and I have done it the last three years for my week with no problem.

FD doesn't work for everyone, depending on your party size or for the reason you stated - you cannot get FD for what you want and you would have to upgrade at no savings, but many people do like that capability.

I just choose with the summer discount to upgrade booking categories at no savings, rather than take the savings, because this is a special trip.

Can you change your dates to accommodate the pin code? Pin codes are tough - the dates, resorts and room categories are typically very limited. I have a pin code ressie for end of August and wanted to stay at BC. Only room category available was Lagoon/Pool, which I took although I really was hoping for Garden or Standard to save more money. I just called last week to add one more night and they couldn't add it under the pin code. I would have had to make a separate ressie under the late summer room offer and check out and re-check-in for our last night - didn't want the hassle, so just stuck to what we have.

What month are you going? Have you checked the other discounts? I would either change your dates to go with the pin or just forget about it altogether!

Are you aware that you can book your tickets for length of stay and pick them up 3 days before your FD starts?

i've been trying to figure this out all day. i did not know you can get tickets 3 days early! that would be great b/c i could just book a room only for the first two dates and then the six nights at POP. That way i could have the first two room only days in the Little Mermaid room and then switch to POP for the rest. However, this does seem like a hassle and i did really want to go to the Art of Animation. It would save $700 but then i would have to figure out how to get the park tickets early, and pay out of pocket for dining those two days. I'm still undecided....

if i go the following week then it would all be at Pop Century, but airfare is higher, go figure. So then there is nothing available for Be Our Guest either and i'd have to re-make all the dining. ugh. so i'll stick with this week. thank you
