Does this sound like you? (a/k/a resort envy)...

mar2728-I am so happy for you that you finally get to stay at the Poly! I hope it will be all that you have envisioned for so long! :lovestruc

triplefigs-hello again! :earsgirl: I hope you love the WL as much as we do! Please post a trip report when you come back!

I will. I just wish the ticker would go FASTER!!!!!!!

My husband and I are going for our first ever "just us" long weekend to WDW May 5 - 11 without our 3 kids. It was a last minute thing as my parents volunteered to come up from AZ to stay and sit with the kids so we needed a good rate.

We are going to stay at the Swan and I am having these feelings creep up on me that I am going to be bummed and disappointed that I am not at the YC/BC or BWI. I know when the boat stops at those Disney piers I will just feel kind of out of the magic that I am not getting off at their boat stops and walking into those charming lobbies. I am sure the Swan is nice, but.......I am thinking I will wind up moving to a WDW resort - the only problem is the Swan was such a good deal because it was paid in full upfront. Ugh. Oh well. I know I am lucky to get this bonus trip in and am blessed that I almost always get to stay wherever I want - but I definitely understand the resort envy and hope I can control it!!

No envy. The Poly is our favorite and we only stay there. We go there about 30 days a year. Now if we couldn't afford it then we would save until we do. WDW just wouldn't be the same without the Poly.

I had to talk DH into staying on-site this time (at POFQ), but I really want to stay at WL. The Gaylord Palms (off-site resort) has spoiled us both with its marble walk-in showers, free internet + in-room computers, oversized furniture... :cloud9:

I consider myself pretty lucky just staying on-site so I will not complain....HOWEVER I would love staying at the GF or POLY for one night and see what the big life is!!!

We are always pretty much in the parks so I don't think I would be able to appreciate a deluxe for the amount of money that costs. If I were to stay in a deluxe, I would have to try to spend more time at the hotel, and less in the parks. I don't think I am ready for that just yet...

So for now I like to pretend I actually have a room whenever I have dinner at GF café, or 1900 park fare. It's great that we get to eat at the different resort restaurants, at least we get a closer look.

I have stayed at Port Orleans in the past and Loved it!!!! I have stayed of-site once and would NEVER do it again.

We are going w/extended family in October and our ressies are for ASMo...I was a little sad as I am not used to "value" resorts or hotels. Yep, it was always the BEST for me!!!...that is until I married and had a child. Now, it is VALUE EVERYTHING!!!!!! My most difficult decision now is do we stay w/ASMo or at POP!?!

I used to have resort envy whenever we saw the GF. Funny thing is that now that we've stayed there, it doesn't bother me when we stay at one of the other resorts. We've stayed at all of the deluxes, Dixie Landings and FW cabins. I appreciate each one for the different things it offers.

One hotel I'd like to try in the future is Coronado Springs. We go there just to eat at the food court and ride bikes. With five of us it would be easier to stay deluxe or DVC.

Oh and I am very envious of the guests of whatever hotel has lots of busses waiting when the parks close!

well first disney trip in 1988 was offsite, then in 1995, 1996 was at carribbean beach resort ,1998 was at wilderness lodge 2003 back at cbr this year i finally get to stay where i wanted the poly!!!!!! this is a birthday trip am celebrating even managed to snag a garden view concierge for my trip!!!!!!! :cool1: Always wanted to stay ay the poly for years finally get too can't wait til may 1st :earsgirl:

When I am not at the Beach Club, we make ANY and EVERY excuse to go hang out there (even if it is just to buy kleenex in the store). But, we don't have to try too hard...Beaches 'n Cream is enough of an excuse to go ANYTIME!!!

But, yes...I am VERY jealous of anyone who gets to stay there when I do not!!!

That was why I waited until DVC offered Beach Club Villas for sale before
buying. :) I could have bought into Boardwalk Villas, but I had a sneaking
suspicion that pool hopping would be excluded at Stormalong Bay once
BCV opened. (I was right.)

No envy here, I'm glad to be at Disney whether I'm at All Stars or at YC and I 've stayed at both. I'm hoping one year, maybe a big anniversary my wife and I can make a just us trip to the GF. We are making our third trip to the YC this June. We can't afford to stay at such a nice place but I've been blessed with good opportunities. Our first trip I planned a trip for my family and my SIL and her family. I wheeled and dealed and ended at POFQ with a $79 rate. Five weeks before our trip they announced POFQ was closing for rehab. Long story short I got rooms at YC for $109 per night. My SIL and BIL (who can afford the YC) liked it so much they have invited us to go with them the last two years with them picking up the tab for the rooms.
