Does THIS Sound Like Fun to You??

I find this very odd that you would post this.:confused3 Not everyone has the same idea of what a vacation or relaxation is. To each his own, right? I, personally, would love a vacation like this and think it is the perfect way to de-stress. Is the purpose of this post to pass judgment on your "friend"?:confused3

I don't see anyone passing judgement. :confused3 I saw it more as a "Hey, this isn't my thing--how about you?" There used to be posts like this all the time on the CB and I'm happy to see one instead of another political thread! ;)

I'm with you on this one, Dawn. A lot of people love these kind of relaxing vacations but I'm bored out of my mind by the end of the first day. Just for the record, I also find casinos boring but my mom thinks going to Las Vegas or Atlantic City are the best vacations EVER. Much to her chagrin, she hasn't been able to change my mind. :rotfl: I like to go to places like WDW or to big cities with lots of museums, shows, great restaurants, and historical places. A week at the beach or the spa bores me to tears.

I don't like casinos either. Of course I might not be bored if I actually won but I don't win because I can't bring myself to risk throwing money away like that! :rotfl2: My cousin took me to bingo while I was in Florida two weeks ago. BORING! I bought two cards at a time. I didn't win. She bought 8 to 10 cards at a time and she didn't win either, so I didn't feel so bad. I like Hawaii because we make it a very active vacation but just hotel, beach and more hotel beach? Boring!

I went to a beach resort in Belize for five days of relaxation and after day two was very bored. My mind kept wandering to prior vacations in Paris and WDW. I learned that I am not the beach resort type. I need entertainment and lots of sensory stimulation.

Me too. I like snorkeling....for a while but after you have seen one fish, you have seen them all.

While I love to go to the spa, I could never make a vacation of it.

5 days??, I'd need to go on another vacation to recover from all that relaxation.

I'm gonna respond as Dawn asked and I really don't think her friend's email is an issue-it's pretty generic as we read it.

I could love a spa like that for a few days alone. Our hectic lives jolt us everyday and having the time to relax and tell everyone how wonderful it was just shows me how much this woman really loved it. WDW is NOT a relaxing vacation for me. I love it, love it, love it but...I do not relax much while there. The fact that I've left my responsibilities behind works to destress and entertain but NOT really relax. I've done overnight spas, I actually did a three day-two night spa trip with some girlfriends. We had a great time. We all selected exactly what we wanted to do all day and met for meals and night time relaxation. I've also done a dude ranch spa. That was interesting and actually educational. I'd love to do a spa with my husband someday. He's not a massage type of person but he did love the mud baths in Napa so we might find a compromise. Five days of detox? Sure, I'd spend the money on it.

I like the beach, beach and more beach type vacations best of all right now. The rhythm of the surf is in sync with my soul. The flocks of pelicans gliding on the thermals over the ocean and the warm sand in my my toes.....next year, booked and paid for.

MEH!

I can understand. We have friends who own a house in Palm Springs, and they go there every few months to "relax" go to spas, dinner, etc.

the way the describe it is very similar to the OP's e-mail quote.

I think after one day, I would be looking for a ride or attraction!!

I guess if thats the kind of vacation you need, then great, one less person in the crowd at WDW!!!

Maybe this poor person has never experienced the true fun of DLR or WDW?

very sad!!

I think it depends on how stressful your day to day life is. Mine gets awfully crazy at times and I would often like some time to just "chill". I prefer to head to the Ozarks though - I'm not much of a spa girl. :)

I actually think that your friend's vacation sounds wonderful! I would love a vacation where I could totally relax and I love spa treatments. I get a massage every other week and a pedicure once a month already, so 5 days of spa treatments mixed in with hiking, exercise classes and eating healthy sounds lovely. My DH and DS, on the other hand, would never partake in this kind of a vacation!! Although the thought of my 15 year old son with a facial mask on sounds hilarious to me. :lmao: This would be the kind of vacation to take alone, or maybe with a girlfriend.

Our family does tend to take active vacations, like WDW, cruises, dude ranches, etc. I have to admit though, I do not feel relaxed when we take a WDW trip. I often feel like I need another vacation when we come home from WDW. For our next trip, I have promised myself that we are going to take it slow.

Personally, I think it sounds FABULOUS! Very cleansing for the body and soul. I would love to be able to afford a spa getaway like that. And it's not all "relaxing", as she stated, there were hikes, water aerobics, etc...it's not like you are turning into a lump, quite the opposite. I couldn't lay on a beach every day for a vacation, that IS boring, but this is nothing like that.

A WDW vacation is SOOO not relaxing to me. Apples and oranges comparison.

My friend, who works full time in a high stress job, would love it. She would HATE going to WDW. She has never been and will never go. I even tried to get her to promise me that she would go to WDW (fly down) with me if I won the lottery! She wouldn't even take a chance making that kind of promise. :rotfl2:
I love going to WDW with people who have never been before. Last year at this time I went with my SIL and her ill mother and her 10 year old son. I was so glad that my nephew went. When they were too tired to go out one night, I had a 10 year old to close the parks with. That to me is relaxing.

Two of my best friends go on trips like this whenever they can, usually once a year. Both of them travel a lot with their highly stressful jobs and they welcome the slower pace and the relaxation. I went with one of them on one of these trips and while the spa experience was nice, I kept thinking of better ways to spend my money. I couldn't relax knowing that I was spending $$$ per night. However, if I had jobs like they have, I might rethink this kind of vacation. ;)

No way would I consider going to that kind of a vacation. I am too much of a people person. I would be bored stiff and missing my family real bad. We go on vacations as a family. I always try to make sure wherever we go there is something interesting for everyone to do.

But yes, I can see were it would be somewhat appealing to some people I know.
