Does this show still exist?

My son loved a stunt (cowboy type) show we saw in Universal or IOA a few year's ago. I remember there was shooting in it which surprised me. We actually saw the show twice he loved it so much. Any ideas what it could have been?

Thanks in advance for continuing to answer my silly questions.

No question is silly. The western show ended several years ago and has since been replaced with Fear Factor. I vaguely remember the show but it was a long time ago that I saw it.

Here's my review of the show, from an ancient edition of my book.
Wild, Wild, Wild West Stunt Show
Rating: * * * +
Type: Amphitheater show
Time: 15 minutes
Kelly says: A bang-up stunt-fest

What’s a Wild West show doing cheek by jowl with the Jaws ride in Amity? Don’t ask, just sit back and enjoy yourself.

This slam-bang bit of foolishness features a handsome cowboy stunt man, his goofy sidekick, a noble steed, and a trio of villains — Ma Hopper and her “twin” boys who are evil, ornery, and stupid in approximately equal measure. Along the way, the gang gets to show off all the standard western movie stunts like falling off buildings and horses, breaking bottles and chairs over each others’ heads, and generally wreaking havoc. There is also a liberal dose of pyrotechnics, with a bang-up finale that owes a debt to Buster Keaton’s silent classic, Steamboat Bill Jr. In fact, ear-splitting explosions seem to be to Universal shows what Green Slime is to Nickelodeon — something of a corporate logo.

Despite the violence, it’s hard to imagine this show offending or scaring anybody. The performances are so broad that the show reads more like a cartoon than the westerns on which the action is based. True, some of the explosions and gun shots are loud and startling, but that’s all part of the fun. Another part of the fun for some people will be sitting in the splash zone. It’s near the well, but just in case you forget, there are several announcements that point out its precise location, and like they say, you will get wet.

Tip: There are some 2,000 seats in this arena so, on all but the most crowded days, you need not arrive much before the posted show times. There are typically four shows a day. They are listed in the Attraction & Show Times insert to the Studio Guide brochure you received when you entered the park.

It's not just Universal that has those....at DHS, Lights Motors Action and the Great Movie Ride both have shooting scenes...FYI

That show was really cute. Fear Factor isn't as good but has a lot more audience participation.

Too bad. We were NOT offended by the shooting at all. It was the Wild West after all! My son loved it but I think he'll like Fear Factor too!

We enjoyed the Wild West stunt show, caught it the year it closed. I enjoyed it. I haven't seen the Fear Factor because that show grosses me out - rest of the family likes it though.

I'm not a fan of Fear Factor either.

Ah, you mean the Bill and Ted show.....which BTW is one of the most awesome shows I've ever seen (and it's different every year)...but it's also more PG-13 rated.

We were disappointed when the Wild West Stunt Show went and was replaced by Fear Factor as that holds no interest to us whatsoever :( WWSS was always fun to watch :)

Claire ;)

I find Fear Factor entertaining but not high on my to do list. Of course the timing of it was horrible considering that the year it started at Universal, the tv series ended.
