Hi

Just after some of your thoughts, we have just booked our package holiday next August with Direct Holidays and after flying with My Travel from Cardiff this year I noticed that the flight was with Monarch Airlines and enquired about a premium upgrade as the My Travel flight was not the best. They informed me that there was no premium seats available on the flight.

Anyhow not that I did not believe them I got in touch with Monarch and asked them what aircraft they would be using and did it have seat back tv's, they emailed me stright back and said if we wanted seat back tv,s we would have to upgrade to their premium cabin on their A330 aircraft that they were using, but we could only do this through our tour operator.

I then rang direct travel today who apologized and told me indeed that their was premium seating at £249 per person. I have to admit I was a little taken aback as I thought top wack it would only be abount £179. After more investagation I have since found out that other tour operators are also using this flight and their upgrade price is £169. When I phoned back Direct travel and told them this, they said that it was because it was a Monarch flight and £249 was their price and I could take it or leave it. Do you think this is too expensive or a good deal. Just as a footnote they are also using Monarch from Newcastle to Orlando next summer and the price of Premium cabin is £169, anybody know why the huge difference in airport prices for the same flight.

Cheers

Sue

For your £250 you are basically upgrading your seat to get the things you would get in economy on a scheduled flight (Virgin, BA) etc.

There is a bit of extra leg room and the seats are bigger from memory but still not huge - and you get the seat back videos - but I think there were only 3 films available (instead of the 1 on the roof screens in economy).

So cant really answer your question for sure - depends how easy you can afford it I guess.

I should also point out I have not flown Monarch to Orlando and am basing the above on another route (but was a 330)
