Does this room rate sound okay?

I haven't been to Disney in 3 years (it feels so long!) and used to be a pass member and go every month. I remember the rates for Florida Residents being so generous and now they don't seem appealing at all (not on weekends and they expire in March). I am crossing my fingers that Disney adds some better deals for us. It used to be about $70 a night, the way I remember it.

So after calling twice, I learned about the value season (and from reading on here) and decided to book our trip when its my birthday, August 15-19 at the Movies Value Resort (the only value resort i havent been to). Is it true you can't choose which movie bldg/room your in until you get there? I have tried studying here as much as possible, but I want to make sure everything is ok.

Oh and I asked about the code, and she acted like she didn't know what I was talking about... but she was very friendly anyways. So the total for 4 nights is $370.54 without tickets and anything else. It seems like so much to me! It will be longer than I have ever stayed, usually I go for just 2 days.

I am going to wait and hope that some new FL resident discounts open up sometime this summer but until then, this is what I am stuck with.

Do you all think that the 4 day park hopper for $125 is a good deal? Should I do that too? This trip is getting very expensive, very fast. Good thing we all get tax refunds! :)

i ahve never stayed where you are staying but sounds really good to me! 370 for 4 nights is way cheap for disney IMO! did you use a code or discount?

we got 8 day base tickets for 230ish a person, as a comparison

No code- because she acted like she didn't know what I was talking about. I am going to call back and get rid of one night (i think) because if I drive up on Friday night and sleep- that's a waste of $92 imo. I'm better off waking up early on Saturday and driving up and spending the rest of the day at the park (probably exhausted) but well worth it. I am thinking of buying us both the 4 day hoppers for $250 and then upgrading them next time we go for the season pass. Does anyone know what the "no expiration date" thing is worth it? I want to the buy the hoppers before the deal expires at the end of february but then we won't be using it until August. Is that ok? Maybe I'll call Disney back and ask them. hmm...

That price is the value season rack-rate of $82/night + tax for a standard view room. You might be able to request a particular building, but you will be restricted to either Love Bug or Mighty Ducks themed buildings. The other three groupings (Toy Story, Fantasia and 101 Dalmatians) are Preferred location and cost more per night.

If you are a AAA member, you should at the very least have them apply a 20% discount to that price.

PLEASE, don't pay rack rates during value season - no one should have to do that!

So... I just called and there are no more AAA discounts left for that weekend (my bday weekend). I am kind of flexible, but only if its worth it. And no code, again when I asked. So i might HAVE to pay value season rack rate? And he said that new Florida Resident rates should be released in mid-July so to look out for them.

And I got suckered into buying the 4 day park hoppers for $150 each for two since they expire Feb 29 and I guess it's better than waiting and mulling over it for the next 2 weeks. But now I feel broke after my final bill has instantly raised to $700.

When you asked about AAA discount, did you ask if it was avail at any of the Values, or just Music?

no...i forgot... but i only want to stay at the values movies since i stayed at all the other values already.

If you can afford it I highly recommend you get a season pass. If you make 2 trips to disney it has paid for itself, plus it has parkhopper and you can get room discounts when they come out.

Any time you can get a room under $100 a night its a good deal. We went in January (FL resident) for $49 a night during the week and $69 a night on the weekend. It all adds up with taxes and internet charge ($10 a day).

You might also look into the DDE card, basically you pay $60 (or $85 if you don't get the season pass) and then basically your tips are paid for the rest of the year. (20% off dinner and then they add 18% tip).
