Does this make sense? Room more expensive with package

Hi everyone,
I recently booked 5 nights at the Poly. We were holding off on packages until we knew what dining plan we wanted. I called yesterday to add the dining and tickets. If I subtract the amount for the tickets (advertised on the Disney website) and the dining plan, the room would have come out to be $75 more a night than when we had the room only reservation. How/why could this be? Are rooms always more expensive with packages?

I don't know specifically about this case. But we have never booked the packages because we have always done better a la carte price-wise.

If you are getting the ticket prices off of the WDW website, are you sure that the tax is included? The first prices that you see do NOT include tax, but as you go futher into the buying process (but before having to put your credit card in) you will see the cost with tax. That could be some of the price difference.

I called and got the prices for a package deal and room only rates and it was cheaper to get the room only rates. Go figure.

If you received the discount on the tickets park hopper/waterpark they will not give you a room discount also---I believe it is one or the other.

Ya, were you stacking discounts or including all tax? In my experience of booking non discounted rooms package price the rooms are always the same.

That doesn't make sense. I'm thinking the difference may be taxes as was said, or the free hopper upgrade which is worth around $200.00 for a family of four for a week.

Also, don't forget there was a new package code announced for May! It saved our family $500.00 at the Poly.
