does this ebay auction bidding make sense?

I couldn't see the picture for the bracelet so I can't comment on that but I think that it is possible that there may have been a reserve price and maybe she kept bidding to get above or at the reserve price. I know that if there was a reserve price it would show on the seller's page that the reserve price has been met but I don't know if that would show under the listing that everyone can so but my guess is that there was a reserve.

I had this auction on my watch list I make similar things for a local boutique and was just curious to see how much it would sell for.

Not a reserve. It would've said "reserve met". Looks a bit strange. Especially paying over $100 for a sterling silver charm bracelet!

The bidding history will look like that when the bidder raises their proxy bid. For instance she originally bid $100, then decided that someone may out bid her and raised her proxy to $125. etc.

I guess that makes sense. Seems silly to me to keep bidding against yourself so that you can pay more when she should have just put $125 in to begin with.

It also includes 5 charms make directly from your childs artwork. That's pretty cool. I do not think it looks fishy.

also who would pay that much for buttons and charms on a wire bracelet which you could easily make for around $10

Did you look at this seller's other stuff? Outrageous prices for jewelry even someone with no artistic sense could make themselves for about $2.00 and 10 minutes of time.

It is odd that this bidder has bid so high, especially when she has bought from this seller before. She should have just asked her to make this item and bought it off eBay. Also, the price is crazy.

I'm goign to gues that she hadn't went over the other person's highest bid amount so she kept bidding and it told her she had been outbid each time. i didn't think you could up your self like that or her highest bid at end would be just over the $65 bid she was bidding on top of. Sh may have raised her highest to 4125 but shouldn't ahve to pay that much unless someon tries to outbid her for a different amount but it should show those bids also.

I think the stuff is awesome. Check out the Disney bottle cap chokers they are so cute. DD saw it and wants one. They look really nice, isn't Disney copyrighted though? My friend makes the neatest Disney shirts but can't sell them due to the copyright issue.

I agree as well. I think it does look fishy. I don't sometimes I just have this feeling :goodvibes lol

It doesn't look fishy.

When there is several bids in row by the same bidder, most of the time it means others have bid on the item but their bid price wasn't more than the high bidder. So it just knocks they price up to whatever they bid. It looks like 4 other bids were placed, but they haven't outbid the current high bidder yet.

Also, the item description says that she will customize 5 charms with the high bidders child's artwork. She's only using her kids artwork as an example. From the description: "All you need to do is scan a piece of art made by your child and email it to me unedited or resized. The best charms are created from plain white paper and sh*rpie markers. I will include 5 custom charms on your bracelet".

So it's a cute idea to remember your child's artwork for years to come.

LOL You guys are too funny. It's not the bracelet that's fishy it's the bidding. She isn't bidding against anybody but herself, look at the time of the bids that's what is odd.

It doesn't look fishy at all. You can't bid yourself up, someone else is bidding her up. She has a high bid and other people are raising it.

Oh, and to add it was a reserve auction. If you click on bids it will shop up under the time that the resere was met.

Then why doesn't it show the other bidders in the bid history that are bidding her up? I thought ebay showed all bids. Nobody else has bid since April 11th.

Very few people bid properly on ebay. That is why sniping is an issue. If everyone would simply enter the highest price they are willing to pay for an item, it wouldn't matter when you bid. Either you win or you lose.

I see people incrementally raise their bids like this all the time so no, I don't think it looks fishy, though I do find it strange.

nobody's outbidding her to up her bids. If they were, their $ would go right above hers or show up in some way. The highest OTHER person's bid was in the $60's... she's kind of gone up from there. I'm really not sure why.

Altho I don't know that it says "reserve met" when it's met. I do know it says "reserve NOT met" when it hasnt' been yet. It does seem odd but the price isn't odd.. it's precious I'd love to have a keepsake like this of my niece's work.
