My son has a loose tooth and he wants me to feel it, I can't, it just creeps me out. I feel like such a terrible mom, but it just sends chills down my spine. I wonder if my mom felt the same way when I was little? There is no way I'll ever pull any of his teeth. I'll clean up puke but I can't touch that tooth:crazy: I was lucky the first 2 came out at school (well, literally fell out).

I'm not a tooth person either!!Nick just had to have the dentist take out one of his molars. I couldn't stand the idea of trying to get it out. It is a good thing the dentist did it though becuase he used numbing stuff before he pulled it out. (I have never seen a molar with a root:earseek: ) This tooth was loose (basically ready to fall out) for a few weeks and really starting to hurt him:( . When I sub and a child has a loose tooth I always tell them it can't fall out until they get home:teeth:

::yes:: Yes, I'm exactly the same way. I can't stand to see them even wiggle their loose teeth.

I am with you both. My kids knew how to gross me out by wiggling their loose teeth at me.

I had to laugh at this one...

When I taught school, I took care of the PUKERS and my assisant pulled the TEEFERS. :p

OK I am the biggest wimp in the East and probably the worst feeling Mom. I can't do the puke thing or the tooth thing. My cherubs will wiggle and quiggle them to watch me wiggle and squiggle and turn green, lol! They ahve even helped each other pull each others teeth out. As for puke, I think God blessed me with kids that only puke at night when Dad's home to take care of them! I do the drs. and he does the dentist and it works out just fine for us. Thank goodness for DH, he is the angel that handles all of that. Now when DS 8 had over a hundred stitches in his head in Dec. of 2002 I was there and walked him right through Disney, visually of course with a sheet pulled over "our" heads while they stitched cause of course wonder mom here couldn't handle that either. By the time I was done the plastic surgeon who had never been to Disney was going to book a trip for that spring! Boy do I feel like a bad Mom right now, hmph!

Don't feel bad! I can't do the tooth thing OR the puke thing either! Loose teeth really wig me out, esp. when they're "hanging by a thread" :earseek: And vomit makes me want to vomit!

Oh, don't feel like a bad mom. I hate wiggly teeth too! My dad refused when we were kids to look at our loose teeth, it totally grosses up out. I'm the same way, blah!

...I could never do the tooth thing. DH took care of the really loose teeth - I can't even look at them. Eeeewwww!:hyper:

That is my DH!! He gets so freaked out. I guess I think it is a little creepy, but I feel better when my son keep reassuring me it doesn't hurt.

He just lost his front big on yesterday. It left this pulpy thing sticking out of the hole. Now THAT creeps me out!

ROFL at this thread! The loose tooth thing does sort of freak me out, not too bad, but a little. When we were in WDW last month DS wasnt brushing his teeth very well because he had a very loose tooth. Finally one morning I decided he needed a good brushing so I did it for him. Wouldnt you know I knocked the tooth right out. EWWWWWW! He is the type that gets upset when they fall out, with the blood and all, so I was trying so hard to be cool about it, but it was tough.
And this was the 2nd tooth that he has lost on a trip to WDW! We have to stop going or this kid will need dentures. ;)

As for the puke thing, forget it! Im no use when it comes to that.

I have to laugh at this one... DH is the one who gets grossed out by loose teeth. DS has had to come to me w/ each and everyone. The one that really got DH, was the one that twisted all the way around and still wouldn't come out. LOL DH had to leave the room for that one. Surprisingly loose teeth is one thing that doesn't bother me. :teeth:

 :rotfl: This really got me laughing........I can remember my kids sitting at the dinner table and pushing their tooth around with their tongue, every time you looked at them, they had their tongue sticking out with a tooth "attached by a thread" Yuck !!

LOL! I was talking about this the other day! Youngest dd is about to lose her two bottom front teeth and in a couple days I'm sure one of them will be just "hanging" there. Yuk! It grosses me out!! I have changed some of the nastiest diapers, been puked on, spit up on (although that kind of grosses me out too), cleaned up bleeding cuts, but this teeth thing just about nauseates me!!

I am part of the "I hate loose teeth club", also! I don't like loose teeth and I don't like saliva! Thank goodness DH pulls out all the kids' teeth.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_1_135.gif' border=0></a><a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_6_100.gif' border=0></a>

My wife and I don't have a prenup, but I made it clear to her before we were married that I am NOT a tooth person. If she wanted kids, she would have to take responsibility for pulling teeth. It turns out that she's great with teeth, but not so good with "regurgitation", so I got that job. I think that it's a fair deal.

I do have a funny teeth story. It turns out that my son went to school with a very loose tooth one day. Sometime in the afternoon, he decided to yank out his own tooth. No problem. Except there was another boy in the classroom who wasn't going to be shown up by my son, so he pulled out one of his teeth. Only it wasn't nearly ready. The teacher didn't quite know what to do. This was her first year of teaching and I don't think that college prepared her for students pulling out their teeth during class. Everyone did manage to survive (although I would have probably been passed out on the floor).

...one minute I'm scrunching up my face and squealing, "eeeeewwwwww", reading about those darned teeth ,

and the next minute I'm hysterical laughing at the stories

Once again you guys have taken a really icky subject and made it humourous - THANKS!

I can do the puke thing, because I know I have to. No one else in the house will do it, that's for sure. But the loose teeth....no way! EEWWWWW. I hate that.

Thanks everyone, I'm feeling better now. I do have a funny puke story, but I'll save that for a gross story thread.:)

Me too! My kids aren't very good at wiggling them and getting them out either - so they'll have teeth coming in underneath them. One of my son's teeth was getting to the point where I was going to have to take him to the dentist. One of my good friends said "let me look at it" and before my son could barely open his mouth she had it out. She's going to be pulling my kid's teeth from now on!
