Does this count as a "bag"?

I am trying to avoid the dreaded bag-check line at the entrance to the parks and wanted to know if this is ok or not. I have a small digital camera that I plan on wearing on a neck strap. It has a case that has a zipper pocket on the front for extra batteries and memory cards. It's about 2" x 3" x 1 1/2". Does this count as a bag to check?

My wife had a similar sized camera pouch with her last year. We were not sure if it qualified as a "bag" but she always went in the bag line anyway. The security guards always looked in it and none of them ever said" oh, we don't need to look at that". You can always try going to the no bag line and see if the guards there say anything, but I expect you will be asked to have it inspected.

The bag check line goes pretty quickly. We were only held up one time a few weeks ago when I got behind a man with a gynormous backpack that had a gazzillion pockets, all filled to the gills. Moral of the story...if you see me in line....find another! LOL!

We found the same, especially if you are ready with your bag open to show them. Longest I was held up when I arrived early afternoon, and had a nice chat with the security man about England!

I've never found the bag check lines to be that painful. That being said, I've gone in September the last two years so in sure it is worse at other times of year.

Yes, that is a bag. Cargo pants/shorts can probably hold as much and you can skip the bag check line while wearing them.

Its silly that they'll check bags that small but don't bat an eye to cargo pants/shorts with large pockets.

Slip the camera and case in your pocket and go straight in through the no bag line. Easy peasy. Cheers!!!!

I agree on pockets if possible for little items.

The bag check line isn't bad IF people are ready & prepared for it. But when they roll up acting all shocked that they have to get out their bags & let people look inside...oh my words. I don't know what they thought "bag check" meant or what the people ahead in line were doing? Or like last week I got the guy on the other side of the table (not my line but sharing the same guard) who starts asking "so what are you looking for? what aren't you supposed to have? do people really pack those kinds of things? what's the worst thing you've ever found?" & weird type questions suddenly the whole process comes to a halt as more security comes over.

That a good idea about the cargo pant pockets. I tested it out and the camera and case fit into the pockets of my shorts. I wouldn't want to go around all day like that but it will work for getting through the line then I can put it around my neck for the duration.

We've always had a bag with stuff for the kids, snacks, water bottles, and who knows what and I feel stress over setting it down or what to do with it on a ride. No bags will make this trip more relaxing and enjoyable. Thanks for the input.

I agree, the bag check isn't that bad, and if its busy they pretty much just peek in your bag. Have your bags open and ready. But now when its not busy its gonna look like the TSA went through your bag and your gonna have to re pack it hahahaha.

My husband and I always go through the bag check and the most it's "slowed us down" was for five minutes when I accidentally got behind four women, all with huge purses who didn't realize they had to unzip them even when the first one was told to do it.

Now, five minutes - it takes me longer to go to the bathroom. And that was the worst case I've had in over sixty trips with bag checks.

I love the freedom of not carrying anything, so I don't take anything that doesn't fit (and stay secure) in a pocket. This trip I will have a small sunglasses bag, but that fits into my pocket until I get thru the line and then it clips to my belt loop. Love not needing to keep up with stuff any more. We've accidentally lost several pairs of DD sunglasses and even plush dolls over the years. Much nicer not needing to keep up with stuff.
