Does this AAA rate seem right?

We are planning on going May 25-30 2008.

We are DH, Me, DD 6, & DS 2. We want 5 nights, 6 day MYW parkhopper with DDP (basic).

On WDW site, I got $1915 for POP & $2778 for WL. AAA quoted me $1857 for POP & $2634 for WL.

I thought the discount was greater at Values than at Deluxes? Does $57 seem like the right discount for POP?

I am confused.

Thanks!!

If your dates are in Regular season, the Deluxe would be 10% off room portion, and 15% for a Value.

A couple things to keep in mind:

Are you comparing apples to apples? Are you looking at preferred vs standard at Pop? That can make a difference. You have to be sure you are comparing the exact same room type in both cases to be sure your comparison is correct.

Although the discounts are a percentage, a smaller percentage of a larger total equals a larger discount. For example, ten percent of $250 is $25, and fifteen percent of $80 is $12. So the actual dollar difference between quotes can be greater for the deluxe than the value, even though the percentage is less.

AAA discounts are percentage based. So while the percenage may be the same or higher for a value, the actual $$ amount should end up higher at a Delux.

Pop May 25-30 rack rate is 109/night(std)
AAA rate is 98.10/night
This is a 10% savings, or 10.90/night. You will be there for 5 nights so that adds up to 54.50 savings

Wilderness Lodge May 25-30 rack rate is 275/night (std)
aaa rate is 247.50
This is a 10% savings, or 27.50/night. 5 nights adds up to 137.50

I think your quotes from your AAA agent are coming in about $10 more than I expect them to be. You might ask if their particular AAA agency charges a fee. But other than that, it's about right for standard rooms.
