Does the Early Bird Get the Worm?

Say Guest A has faxed a request to the Beach Club room controller asking for certain things, and the room controller has "blocked" out room #XX for that person. Now say Guest B gets to the Beach Club early in the day, long before Guest A shows up, and Guest B requests certain things at Check-in. If the only room available that meets Guest B's requests is room #XX, which had been blocked out for Guest A, will Guest B get that room, or will it be "saved" for Guest A?

I hope everyone can follow this.

Thank You. Michelle

Yes it could happen that Guest B would get the room. It isn't your room until you check in. You also can't find out your room until you are checked in and this is one of the reasons.

The exception to this is sometimes concierge rooms. I know when we arrived at 10:00 in the morning last July we were told our room was ready. I had called ahead and had baskets and toys put in the room for the kids. When we walked into our room all of these things were already there and set up in the room. This means they had to save this room for us......it already had our stuff in it.

Well, then, is it worth it to fax the room controller ahead of time? Is there a chance that the room controller will think you are just being pushy, and possibly will look unfavorably on you?

I have had this happen a couple times with the concierge rooms at YC. I have made certain requests and been assured several days ahead of time that the room I had requested was being set aside for me.

Just one more benefit of the concierge level, I guess.

Hi... we just got back from BC and Poly.... we checked in BC at 2:30 and did not get requests... checked in poly at 9:00 in morning and did get request...... I am not sure but I think the earlier the better of a chance....amy:earsgirl:

I ask WDW to note any requests on my reservation and leave it at that. Some resorts, like WL, do not accept faxes any more because they were getting overwhelmed by them. Probably won't be long before all the resorts do that.

On one of our recent trips, I had requested 101 Dalmations at the All Star Movies since my youngest DD loves this area! We checked in a little after midnight and we were given a room in 101 Dalmations! Now, I hadn't requested any particular room, just the section. So maybe that helps!

I think the room controller will do everything they can, however you can't be TOO specific. I always fax a general request, .ie, room with day bed, near the lobby, and I have never been disapointed. We usually get there by mid afternoon. Sometimes the room is ready and sometimes we have to wait.

.....if a person arrives at 9 AM to check-in at a WDW resort and requests a specific room....and if the cm checks the computer and finds that the room will become available later in the day (when the current guests check out), will the cm hold that room for the guest or must the guest take an available room when he/she checks in? Just wondering!

Thanks.

Faxing the room controller doesn't help a lot these days. Many of the resorts aren't looking at the fax. If your requests are in your reservation they will try to grant some of your requests. It doesn't become your room though until you check in. I have always had very good luck with just asking for any requests at check in.

I believe the give the guest the option. They will tell them their "requested" room will not be available till xxx time, however, they have xxx room(s) available now.

At least this is my experience.
