Does the Culinary/college program have a doctor on site?

So what would happen if you go incredibly sick you needed a doctor? How much would such services cost?

Also, I have CF, so say for instance I get a pulmonary infection, what would happen then? Would I be allowed to stay at the apartment for like a week or so? I've only gotten 1-2 in my lifetime of what I can remember, but I'm just asking for what if.

Also, how should does someone store their medicine that needs refrigeration? In a medical box in the fridge?

WDW has Health Services, a facility where you would go if you get injured on the job, from there, you would be referred to a number of Clinics in the local area, CentraCare being the one closest to VistaWay and the other complexes. Having been there, the facility isn't the best, it feels like you are in a free clinic but have to pay for it. Florida also has one of the best hospital networks in the country. The Celebration Hospital is right off property and WDW uses that as the primary location for guests who need to by transported off property. Services there not cheap my any means. I went there because I was having a heart issue (24 at the time), the bill for the room alone was $9,000. Before insurance kicked in, the total bill was up in the $20,000 range. And all they did was hook me up to an EKG, IV, and run a few tests for a few hours. Luckily, I was FT at the time and had Company and my Parents insurance so I only paid $250 out of pocket plus my Co-pay. I will say, I had a private room with a big flats screen TV. The service and care is top notch, but make sure you have insurance. 99% of all CP's are under 26 and are still eligible to be considered dependent on their parent's plan.

WDW also has The Center For Living Well, a private Doctor's office that exclusively deals with Disney Cast Members on the CIGnA insurance plan. However, CP's, Interns, and seasonal Cast Members are not eligible for health benefits. You would not have access to this facility.

I had to go to urgent care a few times on my cp when I was sick since I was still on my parents insurance....the vw bus drove me there it was down near dtown disney

The center for living well and health services are at the back of the Epcot Cast parking lot

Just reiterating... you can only go to Health Services if you are injured on the job. You need Leader approval before visiting Health Services, if you go on your own you could receive discipline. If you are sick with a personal illness (flu, etc), you can visit a Centra Care; one is located about 15 min from DTD (as PP mentioned).

CPs are not eligible for leaves of absences, every day you miss work you will receive a point. Those points add up to the attendance matrix and result in reprimands. When we have a CP that becomes ill in my department, we talk with him/her to discuss recovery time. If recovery will result in a huge amount of points/reprimands, we recommend self terming on good terms opposed to getting termed for attendance.

in regards to the fridge, most areas have a fridge accessible to their Cast. Now, keep in mind that those fridges are public and some are a walk from your actual work location. If you require access to a fridge, you will need to mention that during your interview process. When I worked at Adventureland Merch, our fridge was a good 5 minute walk from my actual work location. When you only get a 30 min lunch, it's not worth it to spend 10 minutes walking to/from the fridge.

So if you get hurt on the job, is there a copay or is it all free?

I actually didn't know you can use your parents insurance while out if states I thought you could only use it in state.

Actually I was asking about that for the apartments.

Talk to your CF center about what Disney needs to do to accomadate your health needs, and the closest adult center nearby. It is good to have your health records shared with that clinic in case you do get sick, or need an appointment. You can be seen at more than one CF center. We have many college students see us during the school year but go back to their home one for the summer. Sounds like you are doing well, but keep in mind the heat!

If you are injured at work then Disney would pay for it, that's why you need Leader approval before you can go to Health Services. They have to verify that your injury came during your work shift and that the injury is related to work responsibilities. Meaning that if you hurt yourself in your apartment then Disney would not provide any coverage/assistance.

Your parental insurance probably has an in and out network. Depending on the coverage, you may find that health clinics in Florida are not part of the in network, making it more costly.

I do not understand your last statement... are you asking about medical care at the CP housing? Disney does not own or operate the housing, it's a third party organization. There is no medical staff on site at the complexes.

You were answering my question about keeping my medicine in a fridge and I was saying I meant back at the vista way, Chatham sq, etc.

I was saying that I don't need medicine in an instant like an emergency, it just something I have to use everyday day or night it doesn't matter when. So when I'm with my room mates, should I get a special box to put my medicine in and in the refrigerator?

My S23 was a CP in spring 2011, my D19 plans to do Spring 2014. I plan to get her registration completed at Centera Care during the move-in. From experience, it'll make it easier when she does get sick. Trust me, you will get sick. Ill tourists with non-refundable tickets come to WDW, hand you money, get your fellow CPer's sick. Nevertheless, you'll see ill co-workers when you get older too,
