Does the CR ever qualify for room discounts?

After trying twice in the past to use a room-only discount at the CR, I'm now wondering if that resort is normally excluded from those discounts. Or maybe it's just the garden-wing rooms that are, I don't know. I'm considering a trip to WDW at the end of February, and would like to book the CR. I'm also hoping a room-only discount will be offered at that time, as that would depend on staying in the garden wing or the tower ... if the CR qualifies for a discount at all. I'd appreciate any info or advice about this. Thanks!

Up until a couple of weeks ago, I had 3 Theme Park View rooms at CR at 40% off with the military rate for next July. Once AKV opened up, I took that instead, but at least for the military discounts, CR was available.

I'm wondering the same thing! We are currently booked at POR but are considering a switch to CR.

I know that CR wasn't included in the Fall 2013 RO offer, but WAS included in the Winter 2013 (Jan - Mar?) RO offer. I don't know if any rooms at CR were excluded from the offer, but at least some rooms were included which gives me hope!

The strange thing is that we are going at a less busy time at the beginning of Feb, but the only rooms left at CR are Tower Theme Park view. Not sure why that is, but it makes me nervous that an offer might not come out for CR if they have a lot of the rooms booked for my timeframe?

Are you talking about the discount that was released the beginning of August for stays in Oct/Nov/Dec? If so, I booked the CR for a few nights in December under that discount. It was only 20% compared to 30% at other deluxe resorts, but most room categories at the CR were included (at least for the time frame we needed) .

I used the military discount in 2012 for a BLV at CR, originally booked the Garden wing but decided we wanted to stay in tower and had no problems finding a room for the 40% mil discount. Good luck snagging a room!

Thanks for the info. I remember being able to get 40% off for deluxes; those were the days! Being that we don't qualify for a military discount, and that 20% seems to be the norm for the CR (if that), at this point I'm just hoping something decent is offered to be able to stay in the garden wing.

By the way, I noticed that the Contemporary is not listed as one of the participating resorts for the Fall room only offer (on the Disney website). Did you happen to call and ask if there was a discount or did you read about it on the Dis? Thanks...I just want to be ready when the Spring offers come out in a few weeks!!!

I have a 20% discount at the CR for my trip next month. The CR was included in the last fall discount offer. I made the reservation on-line.

Yes most of the rooms types will be included in the room offer only that starts in October 8 to stay from January 5 to April 12 hope this helps

The main issue at CR is that is a convention hotel that lost a lot of available inventory when BLT was built. So if there are any conventions being planned, they may have blocks of rooms set aside and the excess rooms won't be released until much closer your travel dates. I've booked CR with a discount many times, but I seem to have better luck booking 2-4 months out than the 6-12 months most people here would be looking at.

When the discount was released in August, I just went online and the CR was showing availability for our dates. I actually called to book, but I priced everything out online beforehand so I would know what to expect. Good luck with the upcoming discount.....I hope you are able to get exactly what you want .
