can you take the monorail directly to Epcot?

We are just trying to figure out times for our dining. We'll be dining at the contemporary at 6:50pm that night, but then after that we need to go to Epcot for Illuminations. What is the quickest way to get there?

I don't know about the bus situation, but you can take the monorail that goes to the TTC, (Ticket and Transportation Center), get off, go down the ramp, and go up the ramp next to it, and board the other monorail, which only goes to EPCOT. I'd allow about a half hour to get to EPCOT, since you'll have some stops to make along the way. I'm sure someone else knows if there's a bus or not!

Based on my old transportation guide, the only way from CR to Epcot is by monorail via the TTC. You'll need to take the resort monorail to TTC and then
transfer to the Epcot Monorail. I would allow an hour.

As the others have posted, the only transportation from CR to Epcot is the monorail (changing monorails at the TTC). With the wait for the monorail, 30 minutes is a good estimate. (of course, this time does not account for the monorail sometimes sitting betweeen the CR and TTC for 15 minutes due to some mechanical trouble.

Yep, that's true. Allow anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.

And this is why I don't see the great excitment over a "monorail" resort... To get to Epcot by monorail seems to take even longer then by bus.

Actually, CR is probably the worst "monorail" resort. It probably takes longer to get to MK from CR using the monorail vs. most other resorts to MK by bus.

You can walk to MK from CR and you would still beat the monorail! :teeth:

If you really want to make it to Epcot for Illuminations you may want to take a taxi. They are available outisde all Disney resorts. There are normally a few waiting, but if not a Cast Member will get one for you right away. Fast and reasonable way to get around if you are in a hurry. You will likely be leaving the Contemporary somewhere between 8pm and 8:30pm. It would be really cutting it close with the monorail. Especially since you have to walk through Future World to get to World Showcase.

It wouldn't be practical (I'm not sure if it is even possible) to walk to the TTC from the CR. You may be thinking of the Poly which is within walking distance of the TTC.

No, no bus. I hate the monorail from CR to Epcot. You take the local to the ttc, then transfer to the epcot one. You can't just walk accross to change trains, either, you have to walk all the way down those long ramps and back up. NOT FUN when you are pushing a stroller in the heat.

I'd allow an hour.
