Does the 4 day WONDER cruise to Nassau and Freeport or no

According to the DCL website, which is not always up to date, this cruise would have a day at sea, with no stop at Freeport. It appears as though none of the 4-night cruises will stop at Freeport after the end of 2003.

This could change, if the cruise line negotiates a new contract with Freeport. I think that they dropped Freeport for a while last year, and then picked it back up again, with a stop every other week.

On the 10-19-03 WOnder the internet cafe manager told me that they were not going back to Freeport after the end of the year. Apparently the big issue is they have to dock in an industrial area and have ask to be able to dock near downtown lucaya with no luck.

We are going to Freeport on the 11/30 cruise.

Our first Wonder-ful cruise.

We are the last Freeport stop on 12/14/2003 this year. Lucky us.

We'll be staying onboard for both Nassau and Freeport stops this time around. This is our 3rd time in Nassau this year with NO need to step foot on that island again! LOVE the semi-empty pools!

We are booked on the 12/31 wonder (this year). I thought they were stopping at freeport, does this mean they are not? Yippeee, a day at sea!

Lisa -- the DCL site has the 14th as the last Freeport stop. Are you disappointed? If not, please tell me what you like about Freeport -- always willing to learn something. :)

Whoa, too many negatives there. We have never been to freeport but frankly I would rather a "day at sea" vs. going to freeport. We took a 3 day cruise and never even got off the ship at Nassau. I think hubby would rather have a port but oh well, his loss :)

What do you mean? :scratchin

-- I agree -- would rather no Freeport, but this date worked out best with our schedule.

In a way, I'm glad we didn't get off the Disney Wonder in Freeport on 10/24. Our dinner partners took a taxi to Freeport from the ship. $45 each, each way. YIKES! I don't think Freeport is very "free". $180 for a 20 minute ride to town? If Disney drops this insane stop from the cruise, the cruise can ONLY get better!

Sorry CRSNDSNY, I confuse myself!

You asked if we are not disappointed to tell you what we liked about freeport. But we are NOT going to freeport, so wouldn't we be disappointed if we had nice things to say about freeport? Did I just confuse everything even more? Oy!

Anyway, last time I checked (before today) our cruise was stopping in freeport. Maybe it was just a mistake because it starts in 2003 but won't be getting to freeport until 2004. In either case, I would rather a day at sea. My husband would rather a port (I think, he wants to go snorkeling). I think in either case they have a fair number of activities on board on Freeport day but now I don't have to argue with him about whether we are getting off the boat in Freeport or not. I haven't been there but his parents have and I think they thought it was OK. I think with many places it more depends on what you do!

LOL! Yes, that statement above looks confusing but I completely understand what you're saying! LOL

Did you look at the DCL site since that post? It definitely isn't highlighted as a Freeport stop. What did they tell you when you booked?

Sebastian_the_crab -- congrats on your first post and I LOVE your avatar!!!

Thanks for the kind words about the avatar. That is the painting from the forward elevator "shaft" of the Disney Wonder. I took 855 pictures on my 7 day land sea "2nd honeymoon".

Oh yeah! I thought I recognized it from:

That's one of my favorite parts of the Wonder. I'm a very big Little Mermaid fan! :)

Hi CRSNDSNY

We will also be staying on the ship on our Dec. 14/03 stops at Nassau and Freeport. However, the swim with the Dolphins looks rather temping, but 159.99 seems like a lot of money! I wonder if it is worth it. Personally, I would rather have the ship stop at Freeport, so that we can enjoy an empty pool compared with a busy ship and a day at sea. Hope to see you on board!::MinnieMo

We were on the Wonder in January and heard rave reviews of the Dolphin Encounter at Nassau. The people I spoke to said it was worth the money.

This time, we've decided to parasail -- a bit expensive, but that's our only excursion.

We'll be spending most of our time at the adult pool -- maybe we'll see you there!!! :)

I don't remember what they told us when we booked, I don't think anything. I didn't really care! We had a 1 bedroom at boardwalk villas reserved with our DVC points and found out for the same exact time period we could do the wonder cruise for only a few points more (of course comparing a cat 11 to a 1 bedroom villa is deceiving but hey) so we went for it. It fit perfectly into our flights also, so it seemed meant to be.

Lisa F:

I'm also booked on the 12/31 Wonder sailing. I called DCL a couple of months ago to confirm the itinerary. It's a little different than their normal cruise because January 1st is a holiday.

12/31 Depart
1/1 At sea
1/2 Nassau
1/3 Castaway Cay
1/4 Return

I think it's great that the sea day comes first. It will be nice to sleep in a little after New Year's Eve on the ship!:D

Thanks for posting that! It will be kind of nice to have the sea day on new year's day. We are also planning to meet up with some friends in Nassau (they are staying at a resort, kind of sad when it's easier to meet someone's new baby by going to the Bahamas than to their house!) so it might be nice to know what day we are going to be there. I haven't done much cruise planning, I've just been toooo busy lately (our cruise planning will involve throwing stuff into a suitcase, thank goodness we already have formal clothes for NYE as hubby owns a tux and we recently went to a black tie wedding). Oh well!
