Does Star Tours still do non-motion?

Years ago I went on Star Tours and back then in less busy times they would make a "ship" non-motion. Does anyone know if they will still do this? I would like to go on this again.

Also, I wasn't in a wheel chair back then. Can you ride the wheelchair all the way to the seat? :cool1:

You would have to ask the CM at the podium for a "Test Ride" and they will put you (and your party, if desired) into a ride vehicle not otherwise being used and will run the show with the video, sound and all effects except the motion.

I'm not sure completely about the access, but if you will be doing a regular ride you would have to transfer and your wheelchair or ECV moved to the exit side.

Thank you! Do you know which other rides in the parks will do that? I heard they changed mission to mars so you can do a non-spinning version. I can't wait to try that one. Have you tried that?

For Star Tours, they may not be able to do it at the time you request it and may give you a time to come back. Whether or not they can do it right away depends on the number of cars they have running and the amount of staff currently working on the ride.
Access is easy. The ride car is a medium size theater. The front row has about 5-6 feet between the edge of the seats and the front of the 'stage' area. The front door is wide enough to pull a wheelchair or ECV into the theater. The seats are individual seats for each person. You can pull right up to the seat (the wheelchair can even be touching the seat). Then you transfer to the seat and the CM pulls the wheelchair back out of the theater. After the show, they will move the wheelchair back for you.
That is how it works in the 'full-motion' version. I don't know if they would let someone stay in their wheelchair for the non-motion, movie only version.

We have not been on Mission Space since they added a less intense version, but my understanding is that they removed the spinning, but not the motion. People who have been on it have described it as about as intense as Star Tours. I don't know if they are able to do a non-motion version.

The only other simulator type ride they have was Body Wars, which was very much like Star Tours and they could do a non-motion version of that. The Wonders of Life pavilion has not been open for a long time, so I'm not sure that Body Wars even exists anymore.
The other more 'wild' rides are not simulators, so there isn't a way to offer a lower motion version.

Ar Disneyland they will not do this if cast members get caught they get written up. I got in so much trouble for doing it for a person that could not leave there chair. WDW I have heard they do do it sometimes if it is not busy.

Wow - bummer for disneyland travelers. I'm pretty disappointed about the mission space ride still having the motion. Is there someone at WDW that I can call to ask about if they can turn the motion off? We are going back in Sept and I would love to try it if they will do that.

I've had pretty good luck in the past just using the 'Contact us' link at the bottom of this page from the official WDW website.
