Does SSR decorate for the holidays?

I've seen tons of decorations for the other DVC resorts and they're all above and beyond beautiful, but I have seen nothing from SSR other than a medium sized tree in the registration area. Seems a shame as of all the resorts, this one could benefit the most from a good sprinkling of holiday decor.

Do they do anything? Does anyone have pics if they do? :wizard:

A bit behind my need to know this...
Ordinarily I really enjoy decorating up my home with the kids. This year we'll be with my parents at their home in FL. I've already been forewarned that my parents have no decorations (but mom will look into getting a small table tree for the kids) I had hoped that our final few days over at SSR would fix the need for home-decorations ... but the more I look the more downhearted I get as I'm seeing nothing for SSR.... or perhaps the decorations are just SO beautiful everyone is stunned by them and forget to take pics? LOL

There are "modest" decorations around the carriage house and the pool area. We were disappointed that there were not more Christmas decorations during our 2006 visit. What was there was very nice, just not enough for our tastes LOL.

Doug is correct. Compared to other resorts, holiday decorations at SSR are minimal. Here are two photos from Thanksgiving 2005.

think of it like okw - you can decorate....

most of okw decorations are by members and guests not OKW.

OKW does decorate the building in the HH area - but that is all.

A few years ago Disney made each resort responsible for their own holiday decorations. The money for decorations are a budgeted item for each resort and are decided and ordered by the resort management.

Any comments about resort holiday decorations should be directed to the resorts management.

I have a few pics of SSR at Christmas if you follow the link in my signature. Basically the Carriage House and surrounding area, Artist's Palette, and High Rock Spring pool are decorated. The decorations are very tasteful and understated, but IMHO work for the style of the resort.

To get your major decoration fix you can do what we did - take time to visit some of the other resorts - especially the ones with the "grand" lobbies (WL, GF, AKL). Those buildings are all by themselves spectacular, and the holiday decorations (especially the trees) are built to match.

Thank you for those pics - they're very nice. The decor does look right for the resort - the poinsettias in particular. I already have a schedule in my head for touring the resorts, and we're really looking forward to it. The plan now is for my kids and I to hit Walmart when we arrive and tastefully decorate my parents house to the hilt with red ribbons, garland and white lights (if they have any left). :rotfl: SSR will be our transition time from Christmas to home, so maybe the understated decorations will be good.

When do the decorations go up? Is it after Thanksgiving or do they put them up before? Future planning!;)
