Does Space 220 offer walkups for the Lounge and/or Bar?

I've heard that Space 220 may not be accepting walk ups for the Lounge, but that they may have a standy line for the bar. I'm visiting the last week of April and it's the only must-do on my list but can't get reservations. Curious if I could go wait for a spot at the bar.

From the Disney Food Blog: Space 220 Lounge will require reservations. There will still be a standby line for the bar, but minors will not be permitted. So if there are people under 21 in your group, you’ll need reservations for Space 220 no matter where you eat (the Lounge or the Dining Room). But if you can’t get reservations for the day you’ll be there, you can still walk up to sit at the bar without reserving your spot ahead of time.

Correct. We actually had lounge reservations but canceled them when something else we wanted to do more came up that night. The next morning we were back at Epcot and I went to see about a walk up. They had reservations for the restaurant open, but we didn't want the fixed price menu (or price!). They had no lounge reservations available and weren't doing a waitlist, but they told us we were welcome to wait in line for the bar. The bar is first come, first served, and you stand in a physical line and wait your turn. It only seats 10. We got there about 30 minutes before it opened and were in the first group of people to be seated at the bar. This was in January.

We dined at Space 220 in March 2022.

There was a short line outside for the bar when we arrived for our 1 pm reservation. But the few who were waiting were sitting on the ground, suggesting to me that they already had been waiting for a bit.

Once we were inside, we were surprised to see 4 children (which looked like 2 different families) seated at the bar.

The bar is exactly that, a bar. So I do wish children were not there.

We were not impressed by Space 220 and do not plan to return. But it’s new so I understand the yearning to try it out. That’s exactly why we went.

But if you cannot experience it, don’t be too disappointed. You aren’t missing anything special.

That's interesting - when we were there in Jan 2022 they told us the bar was 21+ only.

And we agree - we were not impressed and ended up being glad we just did the walk up seating at the bar. The food we had was ok, the drinks were not great, and the atmosphere is only fun for a few minutes.

I happened to take a photo when most of the group got up to use the restroom. I suspect the family(s) had waited a long time in line and were able to talk their way in. Cast Members were just being nice, and I appreciate them for that.

I just felt bad for the adults waiting outside, sitting on the ground. This group was at the bar when we arrived, and I think were still there when we left.

They are talking about an experience over a year ago. Much has changed with Space 220 and how they are operating. Being new and popular, they've adjusted to see what works best. My guess is that children were taking up seats and spending very little, the bar does best with adults drinking alcohol and there is a demand for those seats. It would be fine if the place was not popular.

Space 220 is not owned by Disney and has their own operating procedures.

Was there in march group of 7 with 3 kids 10,15,17. got in line about 1 hour before it opened there were 4 people ahead of us. Asked the hostess several times about kids at the bar and she said its fine. They sat 1 of the groups ahead of us at a table and all 7 of us kids included at the bar. The bar holds 10 people but they do sit some at tables in the lounge sometimes.

We were there in March as well. Had a 4:30ish reservation on the 8th. As we were waiting to check in, the outside CM came out and announced they had four seats at the bar, and then bypassed the family of four who was sitting at the first spot against the wall for the next two couples. There was no confusion, so clearly it had either a) been stated the kids couldn’t sit at the bar when they arrived to wait or b) this family had stated to the CM they didn’t want to sit at the bar. Maybe because it was later in the day? Or maybe it’s just classic Disney not everyone doing the same thing. Weird.
