We are trying to decide on dates for our Disney trip next year and the week of Christmas seems to make the sense. So to parents with children our son will be turning 8 on this trip how do you handle Santa and christmas (and birthday) presents being away from home on Christmas? What about a tree we have a small 4 ft tree that if we drive I think could easily be packed is that okay to do for our room? Just wondering if i should pack an extra suit case with Xmas/bday gifts or do santa before or after the trip? :santa:

Any other advice for the week of Christmas would be appreciated too. We have done the week of 4th of July so we have an idea of the crowd levels i think.

Just FYI....I've been July 4th and I've been on Christmas. There is no comparison in the crowd levels. Picture a literal sea of people with nowhere to stand, walk, or move. My first advice would be to pick another week if it's at all possible. But to answer your original questions, sure! It's fine to take a tree. We did small gifts there but left the larger things under the tree at home for when we got back.

I'd bring the stuff and the presents. Make a little display for your window (I see this a lot), but don't make presents visible of course. Tell the kids that Santa knows where to find them and has his own universal Magic Band to leave gifts for all the kids at WDW! Of course, if being at WDW IS the gift, then maybe just some small stuff from the parks is in order. I'd have fun with it.

This is our second christmas at WDW. We just arrived today. Our girls are 6 and 3. We bring Christmas lights and a few disney specific gifts for Christmas Day. We do our big christmas when we get back. It's so magical at Christmas. It's crazy crowded but it's much more tolerable weather. We love it!

We haven't been for actual Xmas but have been during dec and for bdays. We flew a tree down with us and packed presents As for July vs Xmas. We have been for 4th of July not Xmas week. However in July we did experience park closures so wouldn't a stage 2 or 3 closure be the same whenever it happens? Either way you reached the same crowd level. Not sure why people say NO comparison unless hey have been on 4th without closures

Does Santa Visit your Resort Room on Christmas Day?

1) Santa, "knows when you are sleeping, and when you are awake."
2) I assume, then, that he knows WHERE you are sleeping.
3) Make sense?
4) Thats is what our kids knew.
5) They also knew that the SIZE AND AMOUNT of gifts were less at the resort.
6) Santa knows that airplane people are rough on gifts on the way home.
7) So, he wisely places the bulk of the gifts at our house for our return.
8) We also tell this to guests' kids when they come to the desk and ask.

'Nough help?

We are headed down for Christmas with ILs and think this is DD7's last 'Santa' year... so we are packing up our Elf on the Shelf, decorating the room, and smuggling squishable and compact presents to keep the magic alive. We also ordered 2 things from Amazon that will be delivered to resort (hopefully!)

We hope to visit Santa at one of the parks or resorts but made sure DDs got face time in earlier and we are spending Christmas with our extended fam - Chef Mickey's for brunch and Raglan Rd for dinner. I bought some hot chocolate packets and figure we'll head back to the resort after dinner and drink hot chocolate and just enjoy!

My answer would depend on whether he still believes in Santa. If he doesn't, then I'd just wait and do everything after you get home. If he does still believes and the present is easily packed, then I would go ahead and take it with you. Otherwise, I would tell the child that Santa knows he's on vacation and will leave his presents at the house.

Here now, family was opening presents downstairs yesterday morning at one of the trees in the buildings Disney has set up. We are in an outer building at GF so it's pretty quiet. I can't speak for Christmas week, we will be long gone and never stay that week but found the idea cute.

Airplane people are rough on passengers too. If not for the reindeer upkeep I'd much rather take a sleigh ride to WDW.:santa:

You can always mail boxes to the hotel and pick it up there. Then mail your box with the opened goodies back up to your house. Or like others have said, get mini-gifts from Santa, or tell him that Santa is bring presents to the house.

One thing you could do is buy "Mom and Dad" gifts at the resort/parks. Those are, of course, gifts that you buy for your kids, not the ones Santa brings (that's a whole different set!) That's what my DH mom does. She had no idea which robot or video game he wanted, so they would go around the mall and they would buy things that he wanted (within a price limit) and he couldn't have them until Christmas. So go shopping with your DS and let him pick out mom/dad gifts within a price limit and the understanding that Santa has more at home for him.

And bring a tree! Trees are fun! I have two mini trees; one that my aunt made out of beads and another that is an American Girl brand tree. 4ft is a little much for me, but if it's OK for you then go for it!! I imagine housekeeping has seen far worse.:scared::scared1:

We've been twice over fourth of july. For us, the fourth itself was insane with magic kingdom closures. But the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th were great. At Christmas, the entire week is insane.

We are here now and have a small white tree in our room with homemade Mickey ornaments on it and a cute Disney hat with toppers. We drove it all down with us. Our kids are 15 and 13 so " Santa" is technically not an issue anymore, We do small gifts, gift cards and $. .. however if they were younger I wouldn't have a problem brining a few gifts for them to open from Santa in Disney and leave some bigger items ( if they were getting) when we return home... that Santa left there for them.

We are here now for Christmas. :santa: My kids still believe in Santa so there will be a few small packages arriving in the next few days. We've decorated our room window and room. The kids will put out milk and cookies for Santa and I brought a few stocking stuffers from home. It will be fun!
