Please help me convince my DS-8 that Rockin Space Mountain does not go upside down. I told him that it is just regular Space Mountain with rock and roll music, but he is convinced that they changed the tracks to make it go upside down. I love him so much but we need to put an end to this argument.

Space Mountain doesn't go upside down.

And Rockin' SM is long gone. It's just normal SM now.

Adding...CA Screamin' has a loop, though.

I wish it went upside down...you may be thinking of "Rockin' Roller Coaster" in Orlando perhaps? THAT goes upside down, but Space Mountain does NOT at Disneyland so tell the little man it's cool :cool2:

No more Rockin' (wasn't that in April 07) and no it absolutely does not go upside down. If he wants to see for himself see if you can find any videos of it on You Tube, there might be something to help set his mind at ease.

For SURE I know it does not go upside down. Maybe he is confusing it with
rockin' California Screamin'. Unfortunately they are not doing it anymore.
The only difference between the regular rides and when they are "rockin'"
is the music. They were pretty darn rockin' though if I say so myself because
I love the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I'm so Californian :)

Space Mountain in PARIS has a loop. I have got to get here ONE day!

From Mouse Planet:

As a result, this Space Mountain (Paris) would feature inversions – a corkscrew as well as a straight up loop – all while in the dark environment of simulated space flight. The top speed of the coaster would be 30% faster than Orlando’s or Anaheim’s, reaching up to 70 kilometers per hour. There would be more show elements inside the ride, so that passengers would view giant set pieces as they whizzed past them and through them (examples include asteroids, the "Blue Moon Mining Company" piece of mining equipment, and hyperspace-type special effects). The journey would climax atop a lifthill mid-ride by reaching the moon, or at least a filmed version of its smiling face. Look for a hidden Mickey created by craters on the moon’s face.

Two other elements of the ride would mark Disney firsts, and harbingers of things to come: a catapulted launch similar to one used on aircraft carriers, and an onboard sound system, with music synchronized to the turns and drops of the ride. Both of these ride elements would be used to great effect elsewhere in the Disney theme park world (such as the Rock ‘n Roller coaster, Disneyland’s Space Mountain, and California Screamin’). They all trace their success back to Paris’ Space Mountain.

As I said, I have to experience this one day!

Thank you ALL! He is finally convinced. He actually was watching YouTube footage and was still convinced about the inversion. He knows SOOOOO much about Disney World and hopes to one day be an Imagineer. But, he just had to apologize to his old mom and say that he was wrong, he doesn't know everything!! Good thing to learn when you're 8!:thumbsup2
