We have always stayed near the airport or parks the night before but I was thinking of styaing near the port next year. (yeah I know i can't even start bidding for another 14 days;)) I didn't know if they have any closer to the port than MCO???

ann, i know you can get room via expedia in both the port area and titusville. i like titusville more cause you have lots of resturants and a walmart for last minute shopping. never enough film lol. and its only 22 miles from the port and quite. we always stay at the days inn. and right now it's $50 on expedia. so if you want there is a choice.

We got a room at the Cocoa Beach Hilton via priceline for 39.95 last summer.

Priceline doesn't list Port/Cape Canaveral as an area. However, if you type this in, they give you several nearby areas from which to choose.

ok bear with me I am a bit confused... If I go to priceline I just type in cocoa beach and then my price and it will give me ones close to it? Last time I just clicked on orlando, mco, universal and disney, I didn't see any cocoa beach area. Right now I can't bid because you have to be less than 330 days but in two weeks I figure I could start trying.

On Priceline, Cocoa Beach is NOT part of the Orlando area. If you type in Orlando, you will get WDW, Universal, MCO, Fl. Mall, etc. If you type in Cape Canaveral, they will ask you if you want Cocoa Beach, Daytona, or whatever (there's another one too.) They have no hotels officially listed as Port/Cape Canaveral. If you type in Cocoa Beach, you will get Cocoa Beach.

If that's as clear as mud (sometimes I'm the only one who understands my explanations), feel free to write me and I'll try to explain. The bottom line is that if you want a place as near to the port as Priceline will go, you need to request Cocoa Beach as the city.

Ann, according to www.biddingfortravel.com these are some of the hotels that have been successfully won on Priceline in the Cocoa Beach area:

COCOA BEACH - MERRITT ISLAND

Cocoa Beach

3 Star
Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront
Doubletree Cocoa Beach Oceanfront LINK TO HOTEL REVIEW
Holiday Inn Oceanfront LINK TO HOTEL REVIEW

2 Star

1 Star
Econo Lodge Resort

Merritt Island

2 Star
Clarion Hotel Kennedy Space Center

I couldn't find anything listed for Port/Cape Canaveral

ok my last stupid question... you would think I would know the answer by now.. but how far is cocoa beach from the port? As I said we have always stayed either at the airport or universal/disney area.
I sae titusville, melborne, cocoa etc.. but did not know how far away we are getting, I don't want to drive PAST the ship from MCO just get closer to it. thanks again folks and bear with me :)

From the Radisson (at the far north end of Cocoa Beach-actually Port Canaveral) you can see the Magic in Port.

Check out Dave's www.dcltribute.com site. Under "External Links" click on "Dave's List of Links". Then click on "Space Coast". There is a map that will give you some idea.

We went to look at the beach before we checked in at the port. I assume it was Cocoa Beach. Maybe a 5 minute drive back up the main road to the port....definately not far.

Ask your question on the biddingfortravel.com forum. They will give tips on what price to try, when to try, and other information. Make sure to read their hotel FAQs first. You'll need to know your "free rebids," if any, and the going rates at the area hotels.

I don't know if the Radisson at the Port comes up, but the Radisson chain does participate with Priceline and various Radissons come up a lot in other markets.

On the PL website make sure you put in your target (Port Canaveral,) and see which cities come up. Look at each zone individually and make a note of the zones and star levels in each. This is where you'll find your "free" rebidding opportunities. Select each zone individually and click next. Write down the available star levels and go back. Dedelect that zone and pick the next one. There may only be one zone though in each city. That makes bidding a little tougher, I think.

well because the radission runs around $70.00 if you get a good deal, I can get a three star priceline hotel for around 35.00, as such I save 35.00 which is approximately five konk coolers!

Yes but do they have a shuttle to the port for free??????
if u stay at one of the others they may not provide service
and then u have to get to the port and how much will that cost??? so much for the coolers....

We always rent a car from MCO to the port and back, , we return it to Avis which is near the port who has a free shuttle to the port, no added expense at all... konk coolers back on :)

I dumped my other tags of my free will, as it was the time of year again to express my feelings for snow, and even more so for the plowman..
