I think you made a great choice! That firework photo around the castle is gorgeous. I have toyed with the idea of a summer trip but I'm just not sure I could handle the heat and crowds. Since you are a teacher, I bet you just make the best of it. Morghan is in 7th grade this year and I don't really like taking her out of school too much anymore. These kids have a lot of responsibility! I'm glad Miss Chelsea seems okay with going back to Disney. Not like she has too much choice though I suppose.

Have you read any reviews of David's DVC rentals? I have looked around on his website but just am not too sure. You have to pay it all up front and I guess I like Disney's cancellation policy a little better.

I havent signed on in a while.... so...happy belated bday & congrats on choosing dates! The only time I stayed at BW was in a villa with rented points. My only advice- research the room numbers because those hallways are LONG and its a pain to get one of the last rooms and have to walk allllll the way to the elevators. The pool is a bit creepy BUT the slide is SO worth it!

Funny, but your vacation wish list sounds an awful lot like mine. If only the rest of our families saw things just the way we do, right?

Not sure if you found someone to rent points from, but it is an absolutely excellent option. I highly recommend it! We have rented 4 times now, and all have gone very smoothly. I have also used David's for 2 of those occasions. If you can't find someone else, as you say, he is a better option than paying Disney prices for a mod, and provides a little more peace of mind on the scamming front because he holds back 1/2 the price from the renter until the day of check-in.

All of that said, if you are still looking for someone from whom to rent, drop me a line. I may have some points to rent myself.

Jackie, I have been missing from your PTR/Tybee TR since September and just finally caught up.

I want to say how sorry I am for you and your family for the death of your mom.

Your Tybee trip looks like it was just right - relaxing, a nice get away, good family time... Not Disney but a nice vacation! The pictures are lovely and the turtle races are funny!

And happy belated birthday as well!

I really want to rent points and stay at the Boardwalk. Before I got my hopes set on that, though, I figured I needed to clear something up with Charles.

Me: Are you afraid of clowns?

Charles: (looking at me like I had grown a second head) No, why would you ask me that?

Me: Well, I just needed to check because the pool at the Boardwalk has a giant clown head.

I thought it was a perfectly legitimate question. Some people are terrified of clowns, and I didn’t want the pool to end up being the deal breaker.

So, now I am looking into finding a reliable place/person from which to rent points. If I don’t find anything else, I may go through David’s Rentals, but at $13 a point, he is kinda pricey. However, even at that price, a standard studio will still be cheaper than a moderate room.

Fingers crossed and pixie dust that something pans out on that front.

I laughed loud when I read this. We were totally keen on renting Boardwalk points until I saw the pool. then I knew that there was NO WAY that DH would go there. and my BFF also was very down on the clown. they just plain hate clowns. funny!!!!

yay yay for for a July 12 trip. my furry house guests are gone now (well, til Wednesday for Thanksgiving holiday!) so hopefully I will not be so behind on my subs!

I think 4th of July will be a fantastic trip time!

I did contact those people, and they have already rented their points. I am not too worried right now, though.

I am just hoping the Fourth isn't too hot or too crowded.

We're thinking about Boardwalk for October if we could get it - it's F&W, so it's going to be tough. Otherwise Wilderness because we'll be spending a lot of time at MK and Epcot. We'll book our AKL points at 11 months (which will be in a week!!!! and see what we can get at 7 months later.

Did you book AKL for October? I feel like I have been so far behind on the DIS lately.

Love the clown question. We spent some time at the Boardwalk in '08 when we stayed at Beach Club. It was really nice. There's a nice bar/lounge up there.

Charles and I explored Boardwalk on our anniversary trip back in 09, and I loved it! I have wanted to stay there since then.

Okay, about the creepy clown - I am not afraid of clowns, but that one really creeps me out- we went to see it in person at night and I have to say, that pool is a "deal breaker" for me! Of course the DISmoms stay there, so if I'm ever inclined to join them, I might have to learn to love him!

Once that picture was taken, we had no qualms about cutting into it. LOL!

Hey Jackie! We just got back late last night and I had to get over here first thing to see what Memom had picked out for you! The suspense was killing me! I saw some of those pieces in Animal Kingdom on Saturday and I instantly thought of you. We also had a close encounter with the giraffes on our safari and I thought of you then too! It was as good as it looked. I will keep you posted on renting points, but I am really not going to get serious with it until after the holidays. It will give me something fun to do during the cold winter months.

How are the crowds on the Forth at WDW? I have only been to Disneyland over the 4th and it was CrAzY!

Chelsea is at that age where if I love something, she doesn't always love it. Other times, she does love whatever I love. The conundrum of being a teenager.

I think the crowds will be crazy at WDW, but I am counting on Anita and Happydog to steer us in the right directions!

Chris and I did DL on the 4th a few years back and LOVED it and I went to WDW over the 4th as a child and teenager and have so many fond memories! I think renting points is a great way to stay at a deluxe for a fraction of the cost -- I just need to make sure we go with someone reputable.

That's the one thing I am not crazy about -- no cancellations or you lose your money, and it is all due up front. I really am not a fan of that.

Sadly, the past two weeks were crazy busy everywhere I turned -- tons of stuff due for my specialist degree classes -- the kids were completely wired and bouncing off the walls -- a to-do list that never seemed to get shorter. Luckily, I am now able to relax for a few days.

My dad and brother will be coming over tomorrow for a Thanksgiving parade watching breakfast of pumpkin pancakes, bacon, and sausage. Then, we will head over to my SIL's for a Thanksgiving feast. My stomach is already growling over thoughts of turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, pecan pie, and pumpkin pie. Yum! Yum! Yum!

Friday will be our big decorating for Christmas day. I am looking forward to putting Tinker Bell on top of the tree and enjoying a Starbucks Peppermint Mocha.
