Does Pixie Dust Help with Decision-Making? A 2012 PTR! NEW! 6/30 pg.85

The dude glaring is hilarious! :rotfl: Maybe he did it on purpose-trying to be funny? :confused3 Who knows!

Loving your beach trip - what a perfect relaxing day! And s'mores? Any trip with s'mores is a good one. :teeth:

Wonderful post again! I spotted the LGM before I saw you posted beneath the picture and though that was the coolest thing! He's like your Nobby of your family...off to another adventure! :thumbsup2 And yum yum, you all had a feast at a great price! And LOVE the low crowds on the beach, perfect day!

Thanks! Yes, the LGM seem to go wherever we go ever since we brought home that big bucket of them. The low crowds at Tybee was one of the many things we loved about it!

Okay all caught up now!! A great read this morning, sun is starting to get hot, but I am thinking of the ocean breezes I am reading about and listening to the ocean I see in the photos!!!! :goodvibes

I have been thinking a lot about ocean breezes this week while we have been slowly cooking away!

Such cute funky beach-town charm. That is clear from the AJ decor and the cottage of course, but so neat that "sign" outside the restaurant, reminds me of the mile signs to various disney places there are at Vero and HHR. Anyhow, LOVE seafood in this house too, so of course your dinners sound great!!!

I want one of those sign posts in my yard with the mileage to all of our favorite destinations!

That big chair continues to crack me up! Okay so the whole "OCD" planner in your daughter, that is clearly Disney trained I can see that!!!! So funny, but I agree unwinding during a family vacation can seem odd after theme parks! I think we liked Vero for that reason! But too cute that she was expecting to have a Plan.... :) And the JetSki, yep, nope, not doing it. They look like they are having a fun time though!!!! Dinner and drinks seem very reasonable so that is always a good thing on vacation -- food can be expensivefor sure! Oh, and I can't wait to see the dolphin experience!

Yes, Chelsea has been raised with touring plans. She can't wrap her mind around not having one. Charles and Chelsea had a great time on the jetskis, but I will just be living vicariously through them on that one! Dolphin experience coming up soon!

Can I say that I just laughed at the icecream debacle. Yes we have those too, that is why I insist on cups in the summer, they cannot eat it quickly enough!!!! We had an icecream cone issue on our trip too, so funny watching them trying to negotiate all that mess!!! And then get mad at it!! JUST EAT IT for pete's sake!!!!

 I used to insist on cups when my two were younger, but now they have very stubborn opinions. They will get cones no matter what the cost in stickiness!

Scrabble, LOVE scrabble, we are just starting to play that with rules these days... Nolyn is still getting the concept! AND SMORES with Pina Coladas??!! That sounds like a winning combination!!!!!! :lovestruc I wish I could bring a blender when we go camping

Chelsea really wowed us with her Scrabble prowess -- we were sure Connor would be the one with all the big words since he is our voracious reader.

FUN FUN updates, I also just love the beach bum lazy day in the sand, just enjoyed that so much at Vero... It seems you all had a good day in the sea and on the shore!!! :thumbsup2

Yes, we did with more of that beach bumming coming up!

Sounds like you had a wonderful, relaxing day! I had to laugh on one of the posts where you said that Chelsea could not handle not knowing exactly what you were supposed to be doing at any point in the day! I am the same way! The other day I was sitting in church and mentally going thru my daily WDW schedule and thought, "This has to stop!" haha

:lmao: I am the same way when we have a Disney trip in the works!

:laughing:My Ds does the dame thing. Goggles all the time. When we went to the beach I could always find him easily by looking for the goggles, since he was the only one wearing them.

LOL! Yep, that's Connor for sure! Chelsea tried it for a little while and then abandoned them!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: You probably just caught him mid-expression.

That's what I was thinking, too, since he didn't seem like a cranky guy from what I noticed.

Uh Oh. dum dumm dum

Chelsea being the ever-helpful older sister.

Somehow I missed the last update so I was able to catch up on 2 WOOT WOOT!!!

Love your beach day pictures!!! Love that the LGM were able to come along and enjoy their beach time!!! What a great picture of the kids with their boogey boards!!!

Connor was in heaven on his! He thought it was great fun!

Another fabulous meal! I'm going to have to see about making a visit to Tybee Island some day!!

It's definitely a place worth seeing. :goodvibes

OOOH Scrabble...not a game I'm very good at but love to play LOL!!! and Smores...doesn't get any better than that!!

We love Scrabble! Connor is bound and determined to beat his sister and father one day!

I love the BEACH!!! Can almost smell the salty air looking at your photos.

Sounds like a great trip so far....love the jetski adventure. I think you should try it next time Jackie!;) Although I must say, you look mighty content and happy relaxing on the beach!

Too funny about Chelsea wanting the minute-by-minute daily agenda. My how our Disney touring scars our poor impressionable youngsters! :rotfl:

Yes, I have scarred our children. LOL! They will be just like me when they are older and planning family vacations!

I would love to be back on that beach!

I love the beach pictures, fun in the sun. The picture with their boogie broads, was great. When I first saw the Tybee 2011 and your read your comment, I thought you meant Conner brought alone one of his sticks. Then I noticed the LGM.

Oh, well, in all honesty, he did bring along that stick he found! That's what I used to write Tybee 2011.

The beach looks so peaceful!
And your dinner sounds delicous. Nothing like a great seafood place near the beach. :cloud9:

It's my idea of a near-perfect meal! :lovestruc

I LOVE how laid back your day was! How wonderful to be able to just stroll to dinner like that.

The creeper is Chelsea's photo is just bizarre. Who does that?!

Great update Jackie! :)

I think he just happened to glance over while chewing. :lmao:

More good food and an awesome looking day at the beach! Sounds heavenly! Is there anything better than a live band at a beach restaurant? We love that too!

It's about perfect!

I gotta say that I noticed that guy right off before I even saw your comments and my first thought was, "Wow, that guy looks like a serial killer!"

Poor guy! If only he knew! LOL!

Love the sea turtle boogie board.

Connor knew that was the one he wanted as soon as he saw it!

Live music, beachy breeze, good food... aaaah!

I noticed Dude in the background right away. He is not happy. Maybe that isn't his wife/girlfriend and you caught him.

Wouldn't that be horrible???

I wanna play Scrabble on the porch, too! :cool1:
How many points can I get for 'wanna' on a Triple Word Score?

What?
Zero?
Aw, man! :headache:

:rotfl2: Come play with us anytime! We have lots of fun with arguing over acceptable words.

I'm not a beach person at all (I don't like sand) but your vacation seems so nice and relaxing!! I'm drooling over all the seafood descriptions as well. Mmmm.

I miss being near great seafood!

The guy glaring at you is so RIDICULOUS! :rotfl2: Funny but ridiculous.

I agree. LOL!

Did you all go see Harry Potter yet? I remember you posting about going to the midnight showing. Marc & I are going tomorrow morning, I seriously can not wait!!

We actually went last Tuesday. While I like the idea of a midnight showing in theory the thought of staying up that late was too much for me. We loved it when we saw it though. I was passing kleenex to Chelsea and Connor during the entire thing while Charles was completely engrossed in it.

The little aliens! So cute!!!! :lmao:

I love that a little bit of Disney makes an appearance in all your beach fun.

Oh, yes! We are always waving our Disney flag in some way! LOL!

Oh no! Connor and the chicken sandwich....
This isn't sounding good at all for him.:sad2:

That child! :sad2: I don't know what to do with him when it comes to eating. I just let him order whatever and reap the rewards.

Looks like a great day relaxing on the beach. I love to walk when I'm there, always looking for a treasure from the ocean!

That's what we did on the second morning. :goodvibes

Looks like another perfect afternoon at the beach! :thumbsup2 Now, that almost makes me laugh to write that because I don't like the beach, I LOVE the ocean, but not the sand...you would think otherwise, living in So. Fla. 20 minutes from the beaches, but the sand here is fake and it's more like crushed shells and just gets everywhere and it's annoying...but the sand in your pics looks nice and packed down, I think I could deal with that. ;) (wow, I'm not doing a good job of "selling" our beaches, am I? :rotfl: )

I am very picky about my beaches -- I have to have the kind of sand at Tybee, Hilton Head, or Charleston. Otherwise I just can't deal with it.

The guy in Chelsea's picture is just hilarious!!!!!!!!!! Laugh-out-loud hilarious!

I thought so, too, when I saw the picture!

Aw, poor Connor is 0 for 2 on his meal choices...hope it got better for him the rest of the week. :upsidedow

Hmmm...:rolleyes1

As if I didn't love that porch enough already...now there's Pina Coladas on the porch?!!! :faint:

The best place to drink them!

Uh-oh, drama? Cliffhanger!

:lmao:

That picture guy is TOO funny! I'm glad you didn't crop him out. That's hilarious! :rotfl2:

I couldn't bear to crop him out -- had to share him with everyone. LOL!

another great beach update...I am dreaming of a beach vacay :cloud9: now how to figure how to use those DVC points to do that ;)

As Sheree said, there are Vero and Hilton Head, and I have been reading rave reviews between Anita and Happydog's trip reports.

Vero Beach!!! Hilton Head!!!

::yes::

Hilton Head! Then I can drive down to see you!!

:goodvibes

Just caught up. Poor Chelsea wanting to have a touring plan for everything. Must have been so hard for her.....:lmao:

I guess I'm in the category of one of those adults making a fool out of themselves, acting like a teenager and dancing.

I have no problem doing it! :lmao:

What an awesome day at the beach! I love the expression on the dude at the table behind Chelsea! That is priceless and hilarious!

I agree both on the day at the beach and the guy in the picture.

Poor Connor, what a bummer that he didn't like this dinner either. You'd think he'd be pretty safe with a chicken sandwich!

He is hard to please when it comes to eating. :headache: He'd probably be happiest with something off the kids' menu, but don't try to tell him that. :sad2:

I have to admit to being pretty jealous of your beach day followed by pina coladas on the porch - sounds heavenly! :cloud9:

It was pretty nice. Wish I was there right now!

Exactly! Why would anyone want to jump OUT of a perfectly good airplane? That's just nuts!

Not this girl! No way no how!

It looks like you had a wonderful relaxing day at the beach! Couldn't get much better. Love Connor's LGM making its appearance all over the beach. Too cute.

That guy is hilarious in the picture!

Those LGM go everywhere with us! :rotfl:

Sounds like a lovely day at the beach. great dinner and oh how I love board games :thumbsup2
I am Pennsylvania certified for jet skis so I can take y'all for rides ;) I promise I drive better on water than on land :rotfl2:
That creeper in the picture

Tracy

:lmao: Chelsea and Charles would be all about jet skiing!

I keep reading your TR at work, then going home and looking at the pictures, then something distracts me and I never comment.

I truly love your beach vacation pictures. I think it looks like such a fab vacation and something I am really craving since I am not taking a traditional summer vacation this year. BOO!

I am craving a trip, too, and I just went a couple of months ago. I want to live there!

I went back to read your old PTR so I can start planning my HH trip in earnest.

This is what you recommended.

dinner at the Sea shack one night while in HH

For our Charlestown day:
Boone Hall Plantation
Lunch at Hyman's Seafood
Carriage ride through the historic district.
Dessert at Kaminsky's

Now I have to pick your brain about what to do for one day in Savannah. Same idea - get up early and drive there, touring and lunch.

I am thinking we will do Charlestown on Tuesday and Savannah on Thursday since we check out on Friday.

Hmmm, I am not as big an expert on Savannah as I am on Charleston. I know that we have always had fun strolling along River Street, and one of my fondest memories is buying fudge and pralines in a store there on River Street. When we were on Tybee this summer, we never even drove into Savannah while we were there even though it was just twenty minutes away.

HI Jackie! I can see that I've read a couple of updates and not posted:confused3 I think it happens that I usually read late at night and the
DIS won't let me reply more often than not. They must do updates every night.

Poor Chelsea needing a plan for a beach vacay! :rotfl2: DH would be like that, too. He always needs to know what's going on - I am the fly by the seat of your pants type, and he's the planner - except I always plan the Disney stuff.
It looks like she was able to have fun anyway!

Oh, but if I could have taped those conversations, you, too, would have known how exhausting they were, and they happened multiple times every day. I get tired just thinking about them. LOL!

What a fun beach day and perfect family evening you had! Makes me want to be you! :rotfl2:

Ah, thanks! We had a lot of fun! :goodvibes

That frowny guy in the background - :lmao: Maybe he's having an affair and thought you were undercover from the TV show CHEATERS :lmao:

:scared1: Wouldn't that be something! LOL!

The dude glaring is hilarious! :rotfl: Maybe he did it on purpose-trying to be funny? :confused3 Who knows!

My guess is he was chewing and happened to glance over. LOL!

Loving your beach trip - what a perfect relaxing day! And s'mores? Any trip with s'mores is a good one. :teeth:

I agree! ::yes:: S'mores make everything better!

So, on our third day at Tybee (which was Wednesday), we started the day in the same way. I was the first one awake and enjoyed my coffee in peace and solitude on the porch. Charles was the next one up and joined me. We decided we would head to the beach in the morning and eventually woke the children up. The previous night Connor had made it to his own bed, but Chelsea had slept on the couch again.

2011-06-04071.jpg

We gathered our beach things and headed to our spot on the sand. While we were crossing the dunes, I noticed Connor did not have his bucket of toys, so I asked him where it was.

Connor: Chelsea told me not to bother bringing them since it was high tide, and there wouldn’t be any sand to play on.

Grrrr. Of course had I known that conversation had been taking place, I would have stepped in. I knew there would still be plenty of sand for playing even with high tide. I told Connor not to listen to his sister anymore.

Good morning, Atlantic Ocean.
2011-06-04074.jpg

Chelsea and Connor boogie boarded for awhile, but Connor became bored with that. Chelsea stretched out on her towel happy as a clam, but Connor was chafing for something to do. I suggested we take a walk along the beach. We walked quite awhile, collecting seashells, spotting several horseshoe crabs, and even seeing a school of fish swimming in a tidal pool.

The funniest moment of the morning came when Chelsea was eating gummy worms and a bee came too close to her. She screamed and went running, scattering gummy worms in her wake. Well, the birds swooped in almost immediately thinking those gummy worms were the real thing. I think they were quite disappointed to find they weren’t because they wanted nothing to do with them. Thank goodness since I don’t know how gummies would be digested by birds. Yikes! We did pick them up afterwards.

2011-06-04079.jpg

Those birds were everywhere and this group was enjoying some cooling down of their own.

2011-06-04081.jpg

Around lunchtime we left the beach and decided to head to a little pizza place some friends had told us about -- Huck a Poo’s. Another beach shack of a place, but the pizza was huge and excellent. Large pizza, breadsticks, drinks, and tip for $25. We shopped in the little shops nearby -- souvenir pics at the end of the trip -- and then headed back to the cottage. Charles napped, the kids did whatever, and I took some more pictures. None of the master bedroom since Charles was sprawled out, and I forgot to take pictures of it any other time. Darn it all!

The little sun porch when you first come in.

The afternoon passed lazily by and soon it was time to get ready for our sunset dolphin cruise.

UP NEXT: Dolphins and turtles!

I notice Chelsea reaching for her phone first thing in the morning, looks like some other teenager that I know

Love, love, love the pictures of the cottage! It's so cute, and perfect for a beach vacation

What a beautiful cottage Jackie, can I come along next year? :rotfl: Such a unique and well-fitted theme and just looks so relaxing!!!

LOL I wish I had heard that conversation too of course then I would have ended up making it into a science lesson LOL!!!!

Love the shells from your walk!! So beautiful!!!

Another wonderful day, thanks for sharing!!

So...I really do hate to ask...but when do you head back I know you are an earlier start then us...hope you still have some break left over!

I really love the decor of the cabin, it's not things I would want in my house but for a beach vacation they seem just about perfect. I really adore the flip flop blanket, so very cute!!

The cottage looks beautiful! My DH and I go back and forth about a week at the beach. He grew up in PA and spent a week on the Jersey Shore every summer. I grew up and we now live in RI - "The Ocean State" where seldom a week goes by in the summer without 1-2 trips to the beach. SO it is hard for me to think about a whole week's vacation for a shore trip. Your TR is weakening my resolve though. It would be nice to just relax and all the seafood is killing me!!

Oh my goodness! That beach cottage is perfect! My older sister used to live on the gulf side, beach front and that just takes me back to our vacations with her...
Now that was the life!

I can hear those gulls when they saw those gummies! MINE, MINE, MINE!!!
OH DRAT!
So what did Connor think of the pizza?

Can't wait to hear about the Dolphin cruise!!!
Were the turtles nesting on Tybee when you were there?

The bedspread in Chelsea's room is SO cute! I love how perfectly it goes with the entire cottage.

Oh gosh, the seagulls thinking the gummy worms were the real thing is too funny. They do scare me b/c they ones I see at the beach are so fearless, but it is funny to watch them sometimes, as long as they stay away from me.

Amazing, adorable!!! That is what came to mind when I saw the pics of the cottage!! TOO TOO cute!
And the ocean ain't half bad, either!!!

Looking forward to hearing about the dolphins and turtles!!! :goodvibes

I love that cottage more and more! It is awesome. I love the colors and the decor. That sign with the definition of cottage is too cute and just perfect for you! :teacher:

I can't wait to hear about your dolphin cruise. I absolutely adore dolphins! They are so unique and smart, very intriguing to me indeed.

Love the LGM on the beach. We tend to take one or 2 when we travel. What a cute cottage!!

That is it! I am packing up my junk and moving to that cottage! I love the outside, I love the inside, I love everything about it! I espcially love all of the quilts and little retro-vintage signs everywhere. I wonder how long it would take for me to drive there....according to Google - 17 hours and 35 minutes!

Was it you that got Disney gift cards for spending money? Did you use the Disney Visa points to buy them?

Errrrrrr - I am dying cause I can't see your picks right now, although the description of your day sounds so relaxing. Poor Connor! :headache:

Vero Beach!!! Hilton Head!!!

Hilton Head! Then I can drive down to see you!!

:rotfl: you ladies are too funny...oh yes i know those are my options...the hard part is taking time off from Disney to go to the beach on DVC points ;)

Grrrr. Of course had I known that conversation had been taking place, I would have stepped in. I knew there would still be plenty of sand for playing even with high tide. I told Connor not to listen to his sister anymore.

:lmao: glad I am not the only parent who says those things....

loved the pixs of the cottage beyond adorable and so quaint and inviting i need to get me one of those chalkboards for my home :thumbsup2

the gummy worm story is too funny ;)

The cottage is just so charming! I love the decor.
Are you thinking of trying Vero next summer?
