Does Ohana seat walk-ups or is it reservation only?

We just booked our late September trip a few weeks ago and got right on to our ADR's when we were about 120 days out. My family would love to try Ohana for the first time but the only time I could get was at 9:45pm. I have gone back to the online system every day (literally) sometimes even checking 2 -3x a day and still nothing any earlier on ANY of the days of our 7 day trip.

I'm just wondering if it's at all feasible to try to do a walk-up? We are a group of 4. I know there will be a lengthy wait but the more I think about it, the 9:45pm res. is just too late to do with children.

If they do not take walk ups....what is the chance of keeping the res. but arriving early and being seated then?

It is unlikely you will get in early and 'Ohana is one place I have really never heard about anyone getting a table by walking up. Next to BOG, it might be the toughest reservation to get at WDW.

Ohana notoriously runs behind schedule. Getting there early will probably not help. I would keep checking for earlier times.

From what I've heard (I have zero desire to dine there :p), 'Ohana is always packed for dinner. Often times they will simply refuse to take walk-ups, even if they offer to wait. They also have a tendency to run behind schedule, making the walk-up chances (and even ADR-based waits) even worse. The fact that it's "free dining plan" season in September is only going to aggravate things even more.

I'd say that if the late ADR isn't going to work as it, find a backup plan and keep trying for a good time.

And yes, a pre 9pm ADR at 'Ohana for dinner is the 2nd toughest ADR to get, just behind BOG (it was THE toughest until BOG).

The best thing to do is keep checking online multiple times a day for an earlier reservation since you never know when a cancellation will come up. There tends to be a lot of movement in 'Ohana ADRs as people who start with late reservations find mid-evening ones, and then even earlier times.

There is a tendency for 'Ohana to run late during the most popular dinner hours so if you show up early they will most likely tell you to return much closer to your res time.

We've been to 'Ohana around opening and there have been 2 check in lines at the podium. One is for walk ups, but I don't know whether they are able to wait, are being told to come back later or if they are being turned away.

'Ohana is definitely one of the hardest early in the evening reservations to get. I agree that 9:45 is late if you have young children so keep trying.

thanks all!

I sooooooo want to try Ohana but it's looking doubtful for this trip. I check the online res. system like 4 times a day and there's never any change, nothing new ever shows up, nada. I guess I'll keep trying and hope someone cancels closer to our dates.

I'm assuming calling vs. using the online system wouldn't change anything?

Same availability on either system.

Don't give up! There have been times when I've checked day after day after day and suddenly something will show up! As it gets closer to your trip you may see more movement as others firm up their plans. You can continue to check even after you arrive - check online or with the concierge at any resort or guest services at any park. If something better comes up you can cancel your current res without penalty up to the day before. :)

When we were there in January there was a HUGE line of people waiting in the walk-up line hoping to get in. I wouldn't chance it with kids...

Last time we went that was our problem a late reservation.. we got there about two hrs ahead of our reservation and they put us on a list to wait for a opening.. we waited about a hr and a half got in 30 min before our reg reservation time.. so it can be done but not easy..:earsgirl:

Don't give up! September is still 3 months away and people can/will cancel.
Especially check around the 45 day mark. That's when balances are due and folks make the decision to cancel.

Times can open up! We just booked a late July trip last week. By booking so late, we knew our favorite ADRs would be tough to get. We were fortunate to get everything we wanted except Ohana which had 9:25s open and nothing else. We've been checking online twice a day since and sure enough, a 5:10 opened up today during our trip week! Keep trying, you never know what can happen!

thanks everyone, you give me hope! I was so frustrated that I told myself I was going to just stop checking and give up....that lasted all of 3 hours and then I got on and checked again lol nothing opened up but I will keep checking!

Definitely keep checking. I just booked our first Disney trip a few weeks ago for late September as well. I've had the same problem you're having--dh and I really want to try O'hana, but the best time I could manage was 9:35, which would make for a really late dinner for our girls. I've been checking daily for a better time slot and finally got a reservation for 8 p.m. earlier today! I had to shuffle a couple of other reservations around, and 8 is still a bit later than I'd like so I'll probably keep checking, but I'm thrilled to at least have a time that we can make work if necessary. I figured our girls would be falling asleep at the table if we tried 9:35!

And look at that--it's my first official post on the DIS!

If your plans are somewhat flexible you may find ADRs opening up while you are actually in Disney. Our last 2 trips I checked for better times at a few places we had reservations but I wanted different times and was able to snag what I wanted.

People do cancel last minute while on vacation to avoid CC charges. Good Luck

awesome! oh and :welcome:

this morning I was checking the system again, we originally planned for Ohana on Thursday September 19th but we are flexible so I've been checking every night of our trip. Nothing showed up for the 19th except 9:55pm. I tried Friday the 20th and an 8:45pm showed up, not the greatest but way better than 9:45pm. So I went through all the steps to book it and got to the last step and got a screen with Donald saying the server was busy or they were performing system maintenance. Ugh! Searched again and now that is gone, only a 9:50 is showing up.

*slaps forehead*
