Does Netflix's newest announcement change your opinion?

I was going to cancel Netflix at the end of the week before my next charge but with that email, I cancelled this afternoon. I had the 1-dvd and streaming. We had the last moving for over a month without watching it. The only one who will miss the streaming is my kids, and I would rather they watch a video I put on their itouch instead of streaming.

Dropped them just to make it clear to them we didn't appreciate the drastic increase.

If they want to go to all streaming that's fine, but actually have something worth watching. I think I have seen (most of) everything that was worth seeing on streaming already.

I understood the price changes/increases. I had the 3 Blu-Ray unlimited Streaming plan and I was very happy with it.

I canceled my membership today. You don't increase my prices while taking away services. That just pissed me off.

Netflix had a great service and I would have happily recommended them yesterday. Today I'm no longer a fan.

I really don't like the way Netflix has handled this. However, I feel stuck. The DVDs that I watch I won't be able to get at Redbox. I don't really watch new releases. I like things like Poirot, The Grand, The Jewel in the Crown, Upstairs Downstairs, House of Elliott, Six Feet Under, etc. Those are just a few that are in my queue. Where can I get these movies/show??? Any other options? My library has a big collection, but not these.

We only recently signed up for Netflixs, so we only had streaming to begin with, so untill we watch everything that we want, or we find we are not using it so much, we will keep it.

I had the streaming and 1 dvd at a time. When the prices went up I just went to the streaming only since that is what I was watching the most. I will stay with them since they have the old movies that I want to watch.

Didn't change ours. We'll stick with the DVD portion and cancel the streaming. We try to watch movies as a family at least once a week so streaming wouldn't work for us since the kids basically streamed to the laptop not a big tv. I have the 3 dvd plan and like the convenience of them coming straight to my door. I'm a working gal so trying to get to the library or redbox is a hassle.

I really don't get it either

Now in addition to a 60% price increase, they want me to have to visit two different websites including one with that really folksy yet incorrect spelling "Quikster? Qwickster? Qwikst ..." What was that again?

But supposedly this was all decided to serve me better?

It really sounds like corporate double-speak to me. So far we've been cancelled for nearly 3 weeks and not one person in the house has complained to me.

And from what I understand they are losing the rights to stream the Disney shows fairly soon.

I completely agree. We got the "letter" in our email yesterday and reading it just made me shake my head. It, on the face, was an "apology" yet it was all part of a corporate advertisement to entice us to add the DVD's to our acct (we have streaming only). Right now we only have it to finish watching a few shows (Wizards of Waverly Place is one). If they discontinue the Disney shows, there is no reason for me to continue to be a customer. I think I will look up when the current month ends for me and make sure to watch everything before that day and cancel completely.

I started Hulu Plus the other day - love it except the commercials - I can live with commercials to have more shows available that I'd want!!
