Does National frown upon taking a car form the full size lot when you have EI res?

I have never seen that many full size choices on the EI lot. I am not interested in a sporty smaller car either or PT Cruiser. So...I would almost prefer to walk right to the full size lot and save time trying to figure out if some of the cars were even full size rather than intermediate.

Some posters have reported doing just that. As long as your Emerald Aisle reservation is for a full size vehicle, National shouldn't have any problem with you taking a car from the full size aisle.

In fact, Emerald Choice service is also available at the Orlando airport. With Emerald Choice, you just go to the aisle for your reserved car class and choose from the cars located there. If you are really worried about going to the full size aisle when your reservation says Emerald Aisle service, just make the reservation with Emerald Choice service to begin with.

Enjoy your trip!

It's always been one of the options when I've booked - but now that I think about it, maybe I'm remembering the times I booked aminivan. Of course, EA doesn't apply to minivans.

Have you tried calling the National 800 number and asking them your question? I'm still 99.9% sure you can pick from the full size aisle if you don't like the choices on the EA (assuming you reserved a full size).

As far as I know National has always had you reserve what you need and then if it's a Full size well then you either go to the Full size lot or the Emerald Asile.

If the Emerald Asile has nothing good then you guaranteed a Full size from the Full size Asile.

That's how I've always done it.

But after reading this post, I did notice that my reservation does NOT say "Full size or your choice at the Emerald Asile" like it used to.

I'm not worried though. National has always had Emerald Choice. The only time you go to Emerald Club/Asile is if you are a member. There's always been Emerald Choice. Emerald Asile is the option.

If what you want to order on-line is a full size or smaller the only chooices you will get are Emerald Aisle or counter. Click Emerald Aisle and you will be able to go to aisle with full-size as if Emerald Choice because it is the size you ordered. Note that on-line if you want to order anything larger than full size then the choices you get to click in are either counter or "Emerald Choice." Why the computer won't give you that choice for full size I do not know.

My question is this:

If a person who is not an Emerald Club member goes to the counter to get his car, and the agent says, "your full size car is in space 29B in the full size lot"....what if I took that car???

In the Emerald Choice Aisle, keys are in the car. Every time I've used the counter, someone hands me a set of keys.

This is just speculation on my part (since I don't work there), but National must keep the Emerald Choice inventory separate from the inventory it assigns to counter customers.

National does not assign cars at the counter for anyone. If a non-Emerald Club customer goes to the counter, the agent just marks the car size on the folder. They then go out to the garage and pick out of that size row. Emerald Club just lets you skip the counter plus the option to pick out of the Emerald Aisle. Everyone gets to pick their car at National.
