Does National charge your card when making a reservation?

I just signed up for the Emerald Club, so they have my cc info on file. Will they charge my card for the full amount of the rental when I click to confirm the reservation, or do I pay at the time that I pick up the rental?

My Level of Service says Emerald Aisle, so from what I gather, I just go straight to baggage claim, get our things and then go straight to the garage and choose any car from the Emerald Aisle, right? I don't have to stop at a kiosk or counter in the airport?

I have never used National before, we have always used Alamo in the past. My husband's company offers a corporate discount with National and the price is significantly lower, so I'm just not sure how everything works with them and I don't want to mess up!

Some car rental companies have pre-pay rates and if you select one of these, then your credit card will be charged at the time you make the reservation. When I did a pre-paid rate with Avis, the fine print said they refund all but $10 if you cancel.

With the pre-pay, if you have a coupon, they may not apply the coupon until you complete your rental. With Avis, I saw a refund for the coupon appear on my credit card a day or two after my rental.

Again, with Avis, when you have a coupon, you put the coupon code on the reservation when you make it on line. You go straight to the car and don't need to stop at the counter to give them a paper coupon.

That's correct. That's the beauty of EA, no stopping at the counter. I used it in Atlanta this week, they had a large selection.

No, they don't charge your card at the time of the reservation. They do charge your card when you pick up the car. Only the cost of the reservation will be charged, no additional amount. The bottom of the rental agreement, which you will receive from the exit agent, will show what card has been charged.

The first time you rent they will want to verify your license and credit card, so, have them handy (well actually, you will have to show your license or EC card every time you rent) when you exit.

You gathered correctly. There will be a greeter in the garage to assist you should you have any questions. Basically, at MCO, A garage, EC is on the left, B garage, EC is on the right. A garage, Emerald Club Executive is on the right and B garage Emerald Club Executive is on the left.
